Where will be held the Water Polo competitions? I just the read that the original plan for the pool close to the Maracanã was cancelled due to a dispute between the city of Rio and the company that was supposed to upgrade the pool. 15 months to go....ouch.

The Comite have 3 options to the Water Polo venue:

- Olympics Aquatics Stadium (Olympic Park, Barra Zone)

- Maria Lenk Aquatics Center (Olympic Park, Barra Zone)

- Deodoro Aquatics Center (Deodoro Zone)

Just adding correct info: Maracana Complex (which includes, statium, Maracanazinho Arena, Pool and Athletics Stadium) is owned by state of Rio de Janeiro and operated by a private company.

^^Water polo matches can be moved to the main swimming venue at the Olympic Park or the Maria Lenk centre, no worry.

True, it can be adapted to one of the other venues and ready. It's almost common these type of incovenients in these type of events (It happened with 2011 Pan Am just two months before the event). If the problems for organization were like that, it would be easier to solve.

Rio de Janeiro will have soon have its own museum dedicated to Brazil’s Olympic history. Following an agreement signed on Friday (29) by the Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB), the museum will be built on the Ilha de Pombeba in Barra da Tijuca, just behind the Athletes’ Village in Rio’s West Zone. The area will also be the site of the new headquarters of the COB.

“To be able to build an Olympic Museum in the city of Rio de Janeiro is a great joy,” Luiz Fernando Pezão, the governor of Rio de Janeiro state, said. “I am certain that this will become one of the main tourist attractions in the city.”

In 2013, photos, medals, torches and uniforms of Olympic Games past travelled to Rio de Janeiro for an exhibition of some of the items from the International Olympic Committee’s museum. Based at the IOC’s headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland, the museum brings together more than 10,000 pieces related to the history of the Olympic Movement.

Speaking about the new project, Carlos Arthur Nuzman, the president of both the COB and the Rio 2016 Committee, said the museum will be an important legacy for the city. “The whole story of the Rio 2016 Games will stay in the Olympic Museum for future generations,” he said.

It there is one thing which must be made official. It is that this Brazilian thread has, with superlative efficiency, kept everyone up to date with the progress down in Rio. I do not think there has been another thread in the past which has accomplished this. Very well done.

Posted

61 page thread on the Stadium, 60 on the orbit, 50 pages on the Park, 34 pages on the aquatics centre, 17 pages on the velodrome, 10 pages on the Village, 7 pages on the basketball arena, 80 pages on the torch relay

I must misremember updating those threads mosts days in the lead up to London 2012.

Hey ho, you know best as usual Throne.

Yep, there has been. Many. See London and Vancouver forums for similar threads.

Absolutely there have been many stretching right back!

There are threads on EVERYTHING before every Games- agreed.

There is just a different mood or 'urgency' when things are running behind schedule. A thread showing an orderly and calm preparation (Sydney, London etc) is very different from a 'are they going to be ready in time' thread... like Athens.

"EXCLUSIVE - Stadiums that are just steel shells and venues that are still a quarry: Stunning aerial photos reveal how Brazil faces the biggest race in Olympic history to be ready for Rio in 2016 "

I LOVE SO MUCH THE BRITISH MIDIA. I feel that british press will make a dramatic movie after the Olympics, and a comedy movie with the coments. :P

Anyway the pictures are cool:
