The Look of the games

Hate to say this but I am still not a fan of the look. It's too bland and just blocks of colours basically. There's so much potential to push the shards to more extreme look

For me the look of the games will be how interesting locations in the lee valley like Tritely buoy wharf and Three mills island will look. the visuals we see on here are technically showing how the banners will look, but not much more.

The reality will be much more interesting.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but do we know for sure that the venues will look like this come July? Vancouver's video game seems like it got the Look implementation pretty accurate compared to how those venues actually turned out, but Beijing's was noticably off here and there.

But I do like the purple at the gymnastics arena in that video, though I'm not sure how much like an all purple venue.

I saw a cauldron in the second video. Do you think they were given any insider info on where it will be, and what it will look like?

Why on earth will Trinity Buoy Wharf be dressed?

This is the mouth of the river lee and an arts centre ,you might have heard of the river lee, it runs past the Olympic stadium. There is a shuttle boat service from the Millennium dome to Trinity bough wharf.

They have kinetic sculptures and an arts instillation in the light house, there are art galleries in the wharf buildings and studios in sea containers, you can see the Olympic stadium and Orbit and Millenium dome form the light house Its possible no one will go there during the Olympics but frankly I think this most highly unlikely.

Probably not.

, but it wasn't where the real one ended up being--they just tacked on Sydney's cauldron well underneath the Bird's Nest's roof. I don't think they would give that info away to the game developers.

Not that I had time to take a photo, but if anyone goes past the Water Polo Arena on the Overground line, there's two shard structures which look like large way finding signs just outside it that have appeared.

New signs in the park, not sure if they are permanent for the games or just for the current test events, but they are really striking

Ive also included this image. This is the View Tube on a Wednesday lunchtime! Anyone not convinced the UK isnt getting gripped by Olympic fever need not worry.

Also the first 147 Union flags have appeared on Oxford Street for the jubillee. 500 will be put up in the West End alone. Holding back on implimenting the look til after the Jubillee was a very wise desision.

Nice pics. Thanks! And crowds! Hooray!

Not sure I agree about waiting on the Look though. I don't think everything needed to go up, but it would be nice to have pieces start appearing here and there.

Looking at davey's new photos from inside the stadium, it's nice to see that London's media tables are done in purple.

They're always in a dark blue--there's a generally always a lot of dark blue used at every Games, it's very telegenic. So the use of purple is quite refreshing and I hope it's used a lot throughout the Look implementation, on press conference backgrounds and whatnot. I especially love it on the medal ribbons.

As posted by Lifechooser, thought this needs to go here too. These are the tickets and they look really great. The whole look for me is coming together wonderfully. I feel guilty for ever having my doubts.

I agree, buddy. Even the logo, when displayed without the drop shadow -- as illustrated in your signature and the new 2012 website -- is starting to look genuinely sophisticated.

The synthesis of the colours, the shards, the pictograms and even the font(s) is starting to produce a really coherent, dynamic and exciting 'look of the games'.

The anticipation is almost unbearable now.

Those prices are horrific. It's no wonder people say the Games are increasingly for the elite only. The Athens tickets were less than half that expensive and I thought they were steep.

That's only half the story. For the most in demand events the cheapest tickets are half the price of Athens' cheapest, whilst the most expensive are twice as expensive as Athens' most expensive. There's a much, much bigger range of prices at London 2012, basically the expensive tickets are subsidising the cheap ones.

This shows the opening ceremony prices, for example:

I have heard that, but in Athens I went to gold medal finals in non-marquee events (like fencing) and sat in the first row for like 50 euros. The best seats at the OC were around 950 Euros. That was the range. I can't imagine LOCOG is offering front row gold medal seats for 20 pounds. And the OC at 2012 pounds is just astronomical. Who cares if you can get into a table tennis preliminary for 30 quid? If you can't see ceremonies, athletics, swimming, gymnastics, basketball, etc.....

They vaguely remind me of Torinos's tickets:

The entire Look in general reminds me of Torino's actually. Very bright colors, techy lines, etc. But I think Torino's had a sleeker composition to be honest. I really want to like London's, but I'm not entirely feeling it yet.
