Introduction to Pyeongchang

Recommended Posts

Oh wow, Tulsie's still around?!

Anyway, Gang, those are pretty nice photos of PC. I'd be really interested in visiting the cruise ship hotel on the cliff! Do you know the name of the place by any chance?

Hey Mike, it's called the Suncruise Resort. Let me know what it's like!

I have a question. Pyeongchang is not really a city it seems to me. It looks more like a county or something. What about the compliance with the Olympic charter, the fact that the Games are awarded to a city ?

Well, there actually is a town called Pyeongchang. I've been there.

And besides, after having read the Olympic Charter and looking at past winter hosts, my interpretation of the Charter's use of the word "city" is that it's a loose term used to serve as the opposite of "country." In that, the Games won't be held by an entire nation like the World Cup is. London 2012, Lillehammer 1994 and Lake Placid 1980. Not Great Britain 2012, Norway 1994 and USA 1980.

Thanks, Gangwon. Interesting website with songs and all! Their English website takes a while to load though... and the pop ups are kinda annoying. Anyway, the prices seem reasonable and the reviews on other independent sites seem good too!

I'll definitely think about checking it out!
