Tulsa
Given that Pyeongchang was on its third bid and last time around came very close to winning, I don't see that you've got anything to whine about mate. Everyone, including your bid tem, knew Korea would be strong. And so it proved. This result wasn't a surprise. It was well-known long before the 2018 race started that Pyeongchang would have a great chance at winning. Now answer me this: If Korea winning is a sure sign of IOC corruption in your eyes, then surely Pyeongchang receiving half the votes for 2014 is also a sign of rot? In which case, you have to ask yourself Tulsa, why did Annecy enter a bid when they knew how corrupt the IOC was? Either Annecy and the French NOC were both monumentally stupid for entering the race in the first place given the obvious corruption on show in the 2014 race, or the IOC is not corrupt. Take your pick. IOC is like FIFA, corrupted... If IOC members were realistic never they give WoG to Korea, it's like World Cup to Qatar, it's the same ****... But when i see IOC members are Queens, prince or senile people... It's a shame, only few members are legitims like sportsmen or federation president... Next step Dubai 2022 ??? Rob2012
You didn't answer my question. In 2014 the IOC awarded nearly half its votes to Korea. Why did Annecy bid for 2018 in that case? Surely the 2014 vote showed the IOC to be corrupt according to your own arguments and France should have not bothered?

Sir Rols
Pyeongchang 2018 seem be a big joke... This WoG will be a big ****... KOREA is the worst choice for WoG... It's like Qatar 2022. Korean government had buy these games, IOC member are like Fifa member, corrupted. Which bid was it that everyone - the members here, the Bid Index, rival sites and publications, and the bookies - was telling you for months was going to win? And wasn't it you who claimed that NO-ONE - the members here, the press, the IOC - knew anything about Olympic bidding when we told you PC would win and Annecy come in last? baron-pierreIV
But when Chamonix, Grenoble and Albertville were picked, the IOC was even more august than the Nobel Peace Prize Committee, right? Tulsa
If you are honest !!! You can't say Pyeonchang is a good place to host WoG... There aren't egnough snow and if the winter is like in Vancouver in 2010, the WoG will be cancelled... The snow condition in South Korea are the worst between Europe, North America and Japan... Moreover there won't have atmosphere because Korean doesn't care about winter sport except short track... It will be disappointing to athletes to have nobody in the stadium... It's a fact, each winter event since 2000 had been a failure because never there were someone to watch... Moreover Korea invest lot of money to infrastructure, but the majority of these infrastructures will be White elephant, like Skijump, Biathlon stadium, Bobsleig slide... because nobody practice these sports in Asia... and even with WoG nobody will practice these sports... Because winter industry is very different tahn in Europe or Even in North America... IOC is stupid, and less and less cities aren't interresting by WoG or even SoG now... 3 biders in 2018, 4 to 2020, in 2022? Maybe 3 or 2 ? The sports change and spectators don't want a show without snow or without atmosphere or not very spectacular... 2018 will be a failure...

Pyeongchang will never be a good host... moreover never PC will become an international winter destination even with WoG... it's a fact and all specialist could confirm that... Why did Annecy bid for 2018 in that case? Surely the 2014 vote showed the IOC to be corrupt according to your own arguments and France should have not bothered? Because Everybody thought Pyeongchang won't win, if you compare with French, European standard about infrastructure and potential and European this city can't host WoG... But IOC seem think the contrary, if someone here is already come in Alps or French Alps or even in Annecy, you could understand why a city like PC seem a very bad choice... PC don't have an international standing... But Annecy was too sure about its strength, to someone who lives in Alps, Korea seem the worst destination to winter sports... It's true but we are too arrogant. Annecy had been to arrogant in the beginning, and after june 2010 the Staff understand they done a big mistake about their certitudes... But it was to late. Now if you ask all around the world to specialist or professional or even to public, everybody say French Alps or Annecy is a best destination to Winter sport than PC or even Munich. Chamonix stay the European reference like French alps... It's a fact if you would like to have the best experience, the best holidays or the best snow condition and infrastructure it's in the Alps not in Korea. No, they weren't arrogant. Just stupid to think that after hosting the winter games three times already, they just had to bend over and whisper the words "Haute Savoie" and the IOC would be kissing their arses for the chance to go back yet again. And what do you mean EVERYONE knew PC won't win - tell that to the world sports media, the bookmakers, the IOC insiders, the leaders of many winter sports federations, the sports events analysts and experts and all of us here who've been following Olympic bidding for years and years. This whole ranting reminds me of what Alan Abrahamson said after the vote: "France’s Olympic bids keep getting stuck in some weird sense of entitlement rooted in the fact that Pierre de Coubertin was French, and de Coubertin is the man who in many ways got the modern Olympic movement going. Our French friends need to get over that. Like, now. Take soccer. Modern-day soccer has its roots in Britain. Did England win the 2018 World Cup because of that? Hardly." http://3wiresports.com/2011/07/07/what-now-france/ It's a small minority who thinks this way but too bad they're so vocal about it. I'm agree PC was the strongest to win in this race, because after 3 times, no winter games in Asia since 1998 and because their sponsors make lobby on IOC it was the favorite, but PC isn't the better place for winter sports, show and snow condition or spectators... It's the worst bid about this point now if you tell me bookmaker are specialist about snow condition, infrastructure and about winter sport in general, ok you are stupid. IOC choose a host not because it's the best place for athletes, spectators but only for the money... I'm ok about that PC had the most power money. And also we should not forget that Albertville 1992 was not that perfect, especially when compared to the following Games in Lillehammer. Norway was better than Savoie. Even if you want to go to the Alps, there are a few other countries which could organize wonderful Games, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Slovenia.
