tikus_kecil Posted January 14, 2012 Report Posted January 14, 2012 ^ Not quite true. Hungary, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria and Denmark all have more Olympic medals than Spain and they have never hosted an Olympics. So does Belgium, which like Spain, hosted, but not in their capital. As well as Switzerland and Norway, which have only hosted Winter Games. I'm not referring only to Olympic medals, please check how Spain dominate the world sport : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sport_in_Spain
munichfan Posted January 14, 2012 Report Posted January 14, 2012 In the [...] 2016 Bid Madrid had only 32 votes so it's very unlikely that they will in 2020. You can't say that. Madrid became second of four, so the result wasn't that bad. In round one, they even received the highest number of votes. I think the major reason for Madrid not being awarded the games was kind of geographical. Many IOC members switched to Rio de Janeiro to not to have the 2012 AND the 2016 Summer Olympics in Europe.
deawebo Posted January 14, 2012 Author Report Posted January 14, 2012 Madrid is a really good city, with a large sports tradition, really green and with history. The games will be good for them, but it will be as Rome the economy is really bad. That's why i support Istanbul, but my second chance is Madrid of course they deserve it
