baron-pierreIV
I have been looking on the web and I cannot find any evidence of his involvement, unless he was maybe involved externally in the golden jubilee celebrations and thats why he was referred to in the broadcast. U must be thinking of the Singapore Silver Jubliee celebrations or one or the other. Look for his Spectak Productions website.
Olympian2004
After the drama around Mark Rylance's stepdaughter, now another (potential) ceremonial performer has been afflicted by personal tragedy: Gary Barlow "devastated" after daughter stillborn I wonder whether this will affect the (rumoured) performance of Take That at the closing ceremony. No I wasn't thinking of Singapore's Silver Jubilee, especially seeing was 5 years old and it was celebrating completely different things in completely different countries. I did check Birch's website and could not find any evidence like I said before. Anyhoo, no matter, I must simply going crazy, don't mind me.... menegazfelipe
I'm betting that President Dilma will entry the Stadium in a jetpack alongside our secret agent Pelé to talk about our poor health service...

Ikarus360
Maybe there will be some kind of ambassor like in 2008 (Pele anyone?). I just hope he or she doesn't just kick a random ball like Beckham...

olympian.br
Don't think this was posted yet...but a story on Rio's handover: http://www.rio2016.c...day-s-big-party It looks like it's gonna be dance-heavy. I'm glad they're going to showcase the national culture instead of focusing just on Rio and samba. Should be fun.
DannyelBrazil
I will feel outraged if we don't have some English passing a soccer ball to a Brazilian to start the Rio part of the ceremony! Why I'm reading only part of the stadium will be used for the party??? What?!?!?! London used all the stadium to celebrate their hangover ceremony!
Kenadian
London's hangover ceremony...LOL! That's coming on Monday. But it isn't out of the norm that they only get a part of the stadium floor. London only had a small corner in the Birds Nest. Barcelona only had a small section of the track in Seoul. And Athens only had the central stage in Sydney.
mattygs
It's really a product of the tendancy of recent years to have the athletes on the field for the majority of the ceremony, not just running on at the very end for a couple of songs. Im really looking forward to Monday morning, some amazing performances I think. And rumours of Kate Bush..... YES PLEASE

paul92
So are we going to have Heather Small perform. Would be perfect for the closing song. Especially because it was used for the (I think award winning) bid video.
DannyelBrazil
Oh, Pele is already in London... Probably he is expected to be the "Cliché" in the Rio part of the ceremony...
pjpauly2k
This is the first Ive heard of Heather Small a the closing ceremony. 'Proud' is the song that has reminded me of the London olympics for the past 7 years!!! So if they dont play this song I will be soooo disapointed, lol. It would be a real oportunity missed! Ikarus360
Oh, Pele is already in London... Probably he is expected to be the "Cliché" in the Rio part of the ceremony... She should. After all, like you said, most people associate that song back in 2005 when London sucessfuly got the games. Let's not forget it was also performed at the closing ceremonyes of the 2002 CWG in Manchester. If nothing goes wrong I'll be able to join the closing ceremony livechat this sunday (not like the opening day...my first time in years i missed an olympic ceremony x_x)

Oh I only said 'are we' as speculation. Nothing confirmed yet And just noticed I posted the wrong video. Worth a watch if you haven't seen it before - with a video as good as this, any city could win their bid. Take note Nairobi!
paul92
The BBC news presenter has the stadium behind him and there are lots of green flashing lights. Looks like closing ceremony rehearsals are under way!

paul92
Just as in the jaw-dropping Opening Ceremony a fortnight ago, the British sense of humour features heavily — with Eric Idle singing the Monty Python comedy classic Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life. Del Boy and Rodney — played by David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst in TV sitcom Only Fools And Horses — appear as Batman and Robin. I'm not going to care about any of the negative comments about this closing ceremony, to me and the rest of Britain - this is going to be fantastic! (And oh so so very cheesy and tacky) ...just ignore Jessie J, Spice Girls, Tinie Tempah and One Direction....
