gamesSL 22
Also another point to ponder. Hambantota, if linked to the rest of SL by expressway by 2018 will have 20 million potential spectators within a couple of hours drive. That essentially is the whole population of Australia. As such it is possible to develop a new city in SL. Plus India is a short hop by plane, which adds a couple of hundred million people within a few hours flight. So the event, if managed properly could be viable due to such a big potential audience. But it needs to be managed independently and with transparency in order for it to be successful. By 2018 hambantota could be reached by road train or sea http://www.hambantota2018.com/media-documents but first Sri Lanka must win the bid against a selfish bunch of people. Why are you using the word selfish when you don't even know the meaning of it?
Apple 10
Hamilton will very likely submit a 2030 Commonwealth bid. One of the long term use of the new stadium is hosting the 2030 games.

They are not building a new stadium, rather renovating the old one which will need replacing around 2030.

Who Gold Coast? We're not being selfish, the Gold Coast wanted to bid ever since bidding was announced and permitted. It was Hambantota which bid in the last minute after they realised that likely competition Abuja never put forward a bid.

Apparently the president's son thought of the idea, discussed it passed it through local parliament then brought it to the president

Lastest news that I have is that it'll be a new stadium, vast majority of the stadium will be new. $150 million isn't pocket change.
