taichi 2
I read in a 24h newspaper that Turin is hosting 150th anniversary dated Tuesday, May 3, 2011. I'm very curious if they mention about the Winter Games.
baron-pierreIV 1693
taichi, anniversary of what? What could've happened in 1861 in Turin that is relevant to this board?
Faster 545
taichi, anniversary of what? What could've happened in 1861 in Turin that is relevant to this board? Oh come on Baron, there is no fricken why you shouldn't know this. This year marks 150 years of Italian Unification. Torino was the de facto capital of the Kingdom of Italy before its move to Florence and then utimately Rome when the Papal States were conquered in 1870.
Rei 9
I'm very curious if they mention about the Winter Games. What do you mean by "mention"?

taichi 2
I thought that they would honour the Games in 2006. Maybe the 150th anniversary would mention WOG in the past.
Sir Rols 1902
I doubt they would think the Olympics have much to do with the Italian Risorgimento. Lots of Garibaldi tributes, more likely.
taichi 2
Sorry, When I read this article, I was too excited and post this without thinking. I thought this article is related to Winter Olympic Games in 2006. I didn't know it was for the Unification.

Rei 9
Wow. Impressive building and such a neat backdrop for the tournament. What is that place, Rei? It's the ex-royal hunting residence of Stupinigi, a suburb town outside Turin.
