DannyelBrazil 703
In these latest photos it looks quite a bit better than. First thing I thought was that it reminds me of Rome's Olimpico, except for the missing track. The relative "smallness" can be a good thing if it creates an intimate atmosphere. Can't edit the post but I meant that it looks better than I thought initially. The stadium gives an airy and light impression. I got your point and I agree. With pics from weeks ago, the stadium looked really chaotic, indeed, it was chaotic, many chairs were not aligned (and still some are not yet). Well you put all chairs in line and you clean the concrete, the visual get much better. I insist in waiting the match Brazil vs. England to cast a final opinion on the works. So far, I'm pretty happy.
DannyelBrazil 703
Some more pics Imagine the aerial broadcasting views of the stadiums...
Citius Altius Fortius 560
mhh, you can't find any sign of the place of the 2016 cauldron yet (on the pics)...
stryker 64
Why doesn't the organizing committe just add a few temporary works to the Maria Lenk Aquatic Center and then construct a temporary venue for the water polo competition like London did? It would seem much more cost effective rather than building a new aquatic center for the Olympics even if it only meant to be temporary and dismantled later.
cslopes54 36
mhh, you can't find any sign of the place of the 2016 cauldron yet (on the pics)... Maracana will go thru another renovation after the World Cup. Not sure but the roof could be changed or modified
DannyelBrazil 703
^^Not big renovation, only works needed for ceremonies, already confirmed by Rio de Janeiro state Govt. and Rio 2016 committee

In the other side of external Maracana: Yes, we can make clean working places in "third world"

paul 619
Here's last time Maracana was preparing for a World Cup, the old bones have not changed. Too bad 200,000 can't get in this time.
intoronto 650
@Brazilians what is that swimming facility right off Maracana
DannyelBrazil 703
@Brazilians what is that swimming facility right off Maracana A swimming venue that will demolished for the World Cup, together with the Track & Field stadium. Maracana was a multi-sports complex. Still, some swimmers are training in this pool, but they will be moved to Maria Lenk Aquatic Center in Barra. Footage of the entrance of the public in the event test today, they are broadcasting right now and the illumination used in the event is as beautiful as some Olympic event. Amazing!!! As soon as I get pics, I'll post here. Here's last time Maracana was preparing for a World Cup, the old bones have not changed. Too bad 200,000 can't get in this time. What you mean? DannyelBrazil 703
More at night WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Before questions, there is nobody seated in the left side, that's why both LCD big screens are turned off to save energy - ecofriendly stuff... AND THIS IS NOT THE OFFICIAL RE-OPENING. JUST AN TEST EVENT WITH THE WORKERS!
paul 619
It looks good with people in there and with lights on. I think it was cool that 200,000 people crammed in there for the last work cup final...too bad only 80,000 can come now. I can’t imagine standing for a game but it might be wild fun. Gtting a Lakers vibe with the lights!

Gtting a Lakers vibe with the lights! Modern times bring some good thigns, unfortunatelly the 180,000+ attendance days in Maracana were a truly chaos. I myself attended a match Flamengo vs. Botafogo in my childhood that was a nightmare. ahahaha, Lakers time, I liked it! More pics:
