are there any sharks in the ocean... sure there must be but dangerous ones i mean???

Shark attacks in Rio are very rare and unlikely. The last occurrence of accident was in 1947. The species of sharks that live on the coast of the State of Rio de Janeiro are not aggressive, do not usually swim in shallow waters and not approach the areas of breaking waves.

and wats the price of a 2+1 flat in copacabana :) im serious :)

I'm not used to foreign terms in tourism, what you mean with 2+1 flat?

About sharks, don't worry about them, more than 60 years without attacks in Rio, but be aware if you go to northeastern Brazil, specially around Pernambuco coast.

Tourists love Copacabana but Rio has much better neighborhoods. Ipanema, Lagoa, São Conrado, Flamengo, Barra da Tijuca and Urca neighborhoods (all near the sea) are more beautiful and chic than Copacabana, for example. Urca is, for me, the best neighborhood in Rio and Brazil. The images posted prove it.

IPANEMA

Ipanema is the most expensive neighborhood in Latin America. Why?

Because Ipanema is probably the most luxurious and charming place in Rio.

The streets in Ipanema are the most beautiful and elegant streets Rio de Janeiro.

BARRA DA TIJUCA

Barra da Tijuca is the most modern district of Rio and place for kitesurfers and dozens of fantastic shopping malls,

Hard Rock Cafe Rio, beautiful restaurants, an amazing ecological reserve...

FLAMENGO

Flamengo have the most beautiful park of Rio, the "Aterro do Flamengo" (or Flamengo Park) and fantastic historical buildings

like the "Castelinho do Flamengo" (Flamengo's Little Castle), a small castle near the sea.

Galeao International (GIG/SBGL) is also very nice about scenery.

Sad the airport is a bit old-looking - they are improving it very slowly. But the landscape of Guanabara Bay in both airport are pretty amazing!

Amazing commercial made by the biggest Cellphone/Communications company in Brazil.

Featuring lots of Brazilian (and Rio) landscape, all rebuilt in 3D toon-style, amazingly done!

Enjoy!

since we have wandered into a discussion of brutalism in Rio:

i love this cathedral. i get the impression it is hated by some in rio due to it's unorthodox brutalist exterior. it's probably not in great shape... a few problems with brutalist structures generaly are maintenance, repair and alterations to modernize or update structure or systems are very difficult and expensive. often the material used become marred with seepage, discolorations and depending on quality they sometimes just fall apart, especially if you are in a freeze/thaw climate, but humidity can cause all type of issues as well, very difficult to keep pristine in a tropical environment.
