To be completly honest, i dont know why France is even bothering to get a WOG. What they really need is a SOG, but of course, i guess the wounds from the 2005 IOC Session haven't still healed...

Germany shouldn't think Annecy can't win, we have say the same thing with London in 2012... remember. <_<

Yeah, but London was always viewed as coming in at least runner-up, not dead last. Annecy is to 2018 what Moscow was to 2012. Coming in last.

Ok to WoG.... But in fact if you look since de begining or each year in world championship or world cup France is before Korea....

Korea is strong only in 2 sports and I think this supremacy will change in the next year...

It's not a matter of trying to diss France, of course France's sporting tradition is one of the best, but if you're gonna try to start arguing on the basis of experiences and successes, you can't ignore the more recent results in the favour of more distant results.

And so what if it's just two sports? They are still winter sports - no more or less important than any other of the WOG roster.

Annecy buffoons

Once again, be polite :(

You can think whatever you want but this is not respectful :(

My feeling is that Annecy has a very strong bid but a very big geopolitical problem (WOG 3 times in France) and a bad campaign at the beginning.

The campaign is better now...and you never know what can happen...

^Have you already preached your lesson of etiquette to your compadre, Tulsa as well? Who called me "stupid guy", in the "guess the 1st round votes in Durban" thread in the General 2018 forum, simply because I don't share (as does the other 99.9% of the forumers here) you guys' staunch support for Annecy? Didn't think so. So until then, please spare me your undue rhetoric on forum deportment.

Some guys here are without objectivity... And they don't know well the world, they speak without know.

Well, you can apply that to you as well. BTW, I have been to Annecy quite a few times and I have been to La Clusaz and Chamonix as well.

It is undeniable that they are all a gorgeous setting for the WOGs and have a very good infrastructure to support the sporting events, but that's it.

What you don't seem to know is that has almost no importance when choosing an Olympic host. The infrastructure has to be good enough, while other items that will boost the interest of TV viewers, tourists, press and sponsors are the ones which will be decisive. Olympic Games don't become memorable by there infrastructure, but by the whole experience they provide.

By the way, the historic performance of a country is not that important either.

I agree that good infrastructures are necessary but not sufficient.

Note that what I try to sell here are pricisely the other items, ice nd snow in both hubs, venues at the center of Annecy and mountain villages for an authentical festive atmosphere, the beauty of the landscapes...the Lillehmmer's spirit.

What makes me angry here is that some people try to turn Annecy 2018 into a ridiculous bid and use arguments or words that have nothing to do with olympic's spirit.

That's your compatriot, Tulsa, that does that with the PyeongChang 2018 bid. If you're gonna state such things, then at least be fair about it & don't conveniently overlook Tulsa's bombastic posts simply because he supports the same bid that you do.

I said that also to Tulsa. I said he was to agressive with PC...

Do you really think that the whole experience will be better in Pyeongchang or Munich than in Annecy ?

I disagree... Annecy is not only a question a beautiful setting with its lake and the Mont Blanc !

It a very good technical bid with as priority all clients' experience from athletes to IOC members including spectators.

Please, realise a real and objective benchmarking of all chapters of the different bid book... and you will see !

In term of experience, ask to broadcasters, press representatives, olympic staff... were they want to go for the next 7 years.... You should have visited Sport Accord this year or sometime come to Lausanne.... and you will know that there is no way they want to go to PC and a lot of them will prefer Annecy between the 2 european cities.

But the promised experience or those feelings from people participating to the games are not enough, all of us knew that.

Geopolitics, past games and a Rome's bid are things that are going against Annecy (and also Munich).

But who knows exactly what could vote the IOC members, probably know one could guarantee.

So, for sure Annecy is the total outsider, but it could still create a surprise, as the product is a good one :)

Maybe if Annecy gave away those 3,000+ Olympic posters housed at the L'Imperial hotel, MAYBE...just MAYBE Annency might have a chance. So, sent to 100 IOC voters, each one would get about 30 posters. Not a bad deal!! :D

Have you also preached to Tulsa about being "polite" when he insults people who have a difference of opinion than his own, & that it's not "respectful"?? I don't think that you have.

And once again, all this would seem to be contrast of Sochi. Not every edition of the Winter Games can be about the "Lillehammer spirit". Each set of Games is different & unique & have their own distinction. If every edition of the Games were the same, they would become dull & boring, at least in the aspect of what make the Olympic Games so special in the first place.

Of course not every Winter Games can be about the "Lillehammer spirit". But would a little Lillehammer spirit 28 years after hurts? Probably not.

Again, the only question is: are the IOC members willing to go to a new frontier again after Sochi (because Sochi was already a big gamble) or would they take a break and re-load the battery as Thomas Bach says? The only risk associated with PC is the atmosphere, especially compared to Munich.

Well, this would seem like a catch-22, since Russia (& a lot of Europe) is already a big winter sports nation, so therefore, the 'atmosphere' is likely to be there in Sochi. Sochi's big gamble is/was with the facilities. But the atmosphere argument here is not being made for Munich, but rather for Annecy by Annecy advocates. Which if that's the case, like you said, Munich in comparison would be better for that.
