Annecy 2018 deputy director general Herve Madore resigns

TAMPA/PARIS, Apr 10: With just three months to the decisive vote in Durban for the 2018 Olympic Winter Games, Annecy's deputy director general Herve Madore has left the bid.

As noted in French press sources Sport.fr and RMCSport, Madore was dealing with operational administrative duties and cites internal conflicts as the cause of his resignation. The news came just as the bid team were in London at SportAccord for key presentations to the Olympic Family.

He has served as a pillar of the bid since the early stages of this project and his background as sport adviser of former Prime Minister Lionel Jospin and technical director of the French Canoe-Kayak Federation brought serious experience to the plan.

Madore had recently joined IOC member Guy Drut at the new international office set up in Paris to promote French sports. His was the second key resignation with the French campaign since last December when Edgar Grospiron left his post as head of the bid.

The resignation contrasts with the positive words surrounding Annecy's presentation this past week in London at SportAccord.

Charles Beigbeder, the bid ceo, had spoken afterwards of how France “wants to be back in Olympism . . . to reunite our rich mountain heritage with the power of the Games and use it to make it a blueprint for winter sports of the future.”

Beigbeder, explaining the absence from the presentation line-up of French IOC member Jean-Claude Killy, had said: “Jean-Claude is close to us and is supportive of our plans. It’s just that he had long-standing commitments. He was very sorry not to be in London.”

Killy, he added, would be present in Lausanne on May 18-19 for the presentation to the IOC.

The vote for the 2018 winter Olympic Games takes place on July 6 in Durban, South Africa at the IOC session. Annecy is competing against PyeongChang and Munich.

Tulsa asked me to post that Annency will WIN regardless!

In fact, it will take 85 VOTES in the first round alone!!

The news isn't complete, Hervé Madore go to Paris with Guy Dru to promote French sport and his new mission he continues to promote Annecy... Is'nt a problem to Annecy. But Gamesbid and some members here prefer to have missed news or wrong news to the true...

I remember 1998 World Cup,

2003 World Athletics Championships in Paris.

France has always successful events.

Maybe Annecy too.

France would like to give other cities a chance in 2018. (Maybe Munich)

This is Tolérance! :D

Send us your best. Leave your Manchesters and Birmingham's and Lille' and Leipzig's back home.

France is the first winter destination in the world with USA, in Europe it's the more important market... French ski resort like Chamonix are some of the most famous in the world... If you give the choice to someone where he want to go between Garmish, PC or Chamonix, It will be Chamonix whom will win...

Annecy is real mountain city and very famous destination to practice ski and for tourist more than PC or Munich...

The reality is Annecy/Chamonix have the best potential in this Race, Korea isn't an important market, because except PC Area, there are not lot of interesting winter city/ ski resort to practice winter activity in Korea. Korea it's less than 15 ski resorts, do you think it's a real potential for Asia? :D

and more PC is a small ski area if you compare with European or North american standard... In fact Korea don't have a big potential and never they will have a big potential because they don't have enough mountains and good snow condition... Never Korea will become a winter destination even they host WoG...

Annecy Purpose, real mountains, real snow, one of the best winter area in the world and this place like Chamonix are reference for everyone... You can't compare Annecy or French Alps with Korea... And when I heard someone here to tell me Korea is Great or the best, please stope because It's a Joke or you don't know the reality... Sorry for you

It's amazing how delusional some people can be, when "reality" is smacking them right in the face.

It's very clear which bid in this race offers the most legacy, the most potential & the most support. And it clearly isn't the one this troll on here is trolling about.

Annecy bid :

There are more support in France than Korea, in Korea there are only the government, where is the fervor popular? Nowhere (Biathlon 2009) In France we have a real fervor popular with true supporters (Val d'Isere 2009 more than 250 000 supporters during world Alpin ski championship)...

The legacy? Since more than 1 century Alps and Chamonix are the reference, the WoG history begin in Chamonix and continue...

The winter market is very important in France more than Germany or Korea.

France have a really knowledge to organize WoG or winter event (Xgames, Skicross, Biathlon, ALpin Ski, artistic skating...)

When you criticism Annecy or the potential it's only because you don't know the subject... In Fact the reference to 2018 is Annecy...

Should be given one more opportunity to Munich.

Because everybody knows.

I'm interested in the Olympic movement.

Germany and Korea is different.

Berlin, Munich Olympic Stadium,

100 years the Olympic legacy, their attitude, mindset.

Their passion, role, tradition.

This is worth than that just slogan "New Markets".

If Munich's lose it's a political decision.

This is the reason why Koreans support Munich.
