Oooswald Posted July 15, 2016 Report Posted July 15, 2016 Me too! The atmosphere in Maracanazinho will be amazing.
Ikarus360 Posted July 16, 2016 Report Posted July 16, 2016 Tennis Venue Sambodromo (looks like they're covering the ground) Beach Volleyball Arena Rowing
brasilolimpico Posted July 17, 2016 Report Posted July 17, 2016 The Sambodromo is getting very beautiful. Some places will get even more amazing with the installed decoration . Rio 2016 has beautiful arenas ! Far superior to London in 2012 . The only thing that bothers me in 2016 , is that the seats always follow the same style in several arenas : a mixture of colors in the stands . It's beautiful , but repetitive .
Bezzi Posted July 17, 2016 Report Posted July 17, 2016 It looks very similar to London's, but without the low seating on the fourth side: http://www.designboom.com/cms/images/ridm/po02.jpg - which sounds right given reports back in January that the capacity of the Rio venue was being reduced to save money. How strange. I can see the low seating in that last picture. And with that vip/tv boxes above the arena in Rio seems even bigger than London

Really - don't think that they are any more "superior" than London 2012 - look on par if you ask me?!
brasilolimpico Posted July 17, 2016 Report Posted July 17, 2016 Really - don't think that they are any more "superior" than London 2012 - look on par if you ask me?! Yes. I do not say that London 2012 was not pretty , but I prefer the Rio 2016 . Rio 2016 has test sites more ' ' live ' ' apparently. London had genuinely British locations. Of course, some events like tennis, Equestrian and Marathon are way ahead of Brazil. The idea of using the ' The Mall ' was amazing. I love to see the 2016 , using the Quinta da Boa Vista for the Marathon or Archery . Unfortunately they chose the Sambodromo only .
intoronto Posted July 17, 2016 Report Posted July 17, 2016 Really - don't think that they are any more "superior" than London 2012 - look on par if you ask me?! Yea these Rio venues look like the 'bare minimum' too me. London was better.
Rob2012 Posted July 17, 2016 Report Posted July 17, 2016 There seems to be an enormous amount of space between the stands and the court in the 'Centre Court' venue at the Tennis Centre. Unless it's just a strange lens used by the photographer.
neneu10 Posted July 17, 2016 Report Posted July 17, 2016 In my opinion for the venues Football - Rio Athletics - London Rowing - Rio Equestrian - London Gymnastics - London Basketball - Rio Volleyball - Rio Beach Volleyball - Rio Swimming - Rio Water Polo - London Tennis - London Field Hockey - London Slalom - London Velodrome - London Judo - Rio Fencing - Rio Wrestling - Rio Boxe - Rio Archery - Rio Handball - Rio BMX - Rio
brasilolimpico Posted July 17, 2016 Report Posted July 17, 2016 In my opinion: Although overall the London sites stay ahead of Rio 2016 in my scores have to ponder. In some cases I chose the location of symbolism if the Equestrian and Wimbledon. In other cases it is not related to headquarters but the health issue as the Olympic Sailing . Overall I think more alive Rio 2016. Although London 2012 will be organized. LONDON X RIO Olympic Park: London 2012 Ceremonys venues: London 2012 Athletics: London 2012 Basketball: London and Rio 2016 Boxing: London 2012. Canoeing: 2016. Fencing: 2016 Cycling: BMX: Rather London 2012. The Road: Rather London 2012. The Track: Rather London 2012 (narrowly). Football: 2016 Gymnastics: 2016 Weightlifting: London 2012 Handball: 2016 Equestrian: London 2012 (I put in Windsor) Field Hockey: 2016 Judo: London 2012 Fights: London 2012 Synchronized Swimming: London 2012 Swimming: 2016 Pentlato Modern: London 2012 Water polo: London 2012 Rowing: 2016 (for some) Diving: London 2012 Taekwondo: London 2012 Tennis: London 2012 Shot: 2016 Archery: 2016 Triathlon: 2016 Sailing: London 2012 (!!!) Volleyball: 2016 (2012 London looked old) Volleyball Beach: 2016
paul Posted July 17, 2016 Report Posted July 17, 2016 LOVE a great beach and of course it's rios signature but NOTHING can be cooler than the Beach Volleyball @ Horse Guards Parade, an unforgettably beautiful and unique venue. Also hard to understand how anyone can compare the far superior London Aqutic Center to this temp one with poles blocking sight-lines. I'm not a huge Zaha fanboy but credit where due. I do LOVE LOVE LOVE the amazing decorative scrim on the 2016 pool. anyway it Rio's moment so obviously locals are excited.
Oooswald Posted July 17, 2016 Report Posted July 17, 2016 The Beach Volleyball Arena in London was really super cool. Very unique landscape. But I think it's great that the beach volleyball will be played at an actual beach in Rio, like Sydney 2000. The aerial shots from the arena (I heard that a camera suspended by cables will travel through Copacabana beach) will be iconic.
paul Posted July 17, 2016 Report Posted July 17, 2016 ....you are probably right, a real beach is important. Wonder why not just use drones?
