London 2012 Olympics Tickets

Recommended Posts

Does anyone here know for sure if there will ever be a last final batch of tickets for sale soon? Is it the same online sale system? I am desperate and dying to get a ticket for opening ceremony. What are the last resorts to get my hands on one? I hope if all fails, they will do a wimbleson style queueing sale that guarantees you a ticket if you are willing to camp and queue...

Yes, it is confirmed that there will be more tickets up for sale. Details of how it will be run are still being worked out. Looks like they want to use Ticketmaster.

I would expect at least a few opening ceremony tickets will be in that last batch. They will probably be in the most expensive categories, and demand will be *much* greater than supply. You'll need a lot of luck to get them.

If you are shut out and really do want tickets, the "legal touts" (Thomas Cook) may have some very expensive pagages that include opening ceremony tickets. Plus, no matter what officilas claim, there will be illegal touts with tickets. Just be careful as there will also be lots of illegal touts without tickets scaming people.

Actually, you may well be right zekekelso. It was mentioned that they were finalising camera positions in the venues and that some seats couldn't be released until those were sorted. So I expect there may well be a few opening ceremony tickets left. But probably not very many.

Re Wimbledon style ticket resale queues. At my GM training session they did say they were looking at reselling tickets for some venues but not all. The ticket (if I recall correctly) would also only be available to those inside the park already.

Here are some details re LOCOG Round 3: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-17122228. The announcement of the exact details was meant to be this week (as mentioned on the official news release re: the football tickets being on sale. But the announcement never came and so it will be probably be next week. And the sale w/c 14th May I strongly suspect.

And here is some detail re: ticket booths http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-17206947

My understanding is that there will be ticket booths (1) in the Olympic Park - for those already in there; (2) in a few places across London and (3) in cities across the UK.

Hope that helps.

Hello guys,

As all of you, I'm a great sportslover and also will visit London 2012. I've got 2 tickets for Gymnastics Artistic, on 29 july (woman), GA004 (Cat. D) from 09:30 - 12:45.

I would like to swap them for 2 tickets for GA005, also on 29 july, but from 14:45 - 18:00.

Countries in subdivision 1 and 2 (GA004) are Australia, Brasil, Italy, Belgium and some others I couldn't find out (maybe someone can tell me where I can find the other countries joining this group?). So if you've got tickets for GA005 and want to swap for GA004, tell me, maybe we can fix something and make me very happy :-)

Kind regards,

Judoka (Netherlands)

"The tickets, available at www.tickets.london2012.com, include 5,000 to the Opening Ceremony, 6,000 to the Closing Ceremony, and 50,000 to athletic events."

5000 to the OC????? This is not fair!!! I wonder why i didn´t choose only tickets to the OC or to the 100m, last year!!!! I would have more chances this time!!!

Olympics official caught touting thousands of pounds worth of London 2012 tickets

A senior Olympics official from Ukraine has been exposed offering to sell tickets to the London 2012 Games on the black market.

Volodymyr Gerashchenko, the general secretary of Ukraine’s National Olympic Committee (NOC), told an undercover reporter he was prepared to sell up to 100 spare tickets for cash for between £50 and £150 each.

Unauthorised ticket sales are illegal under the London Olympic Games and Paralympic Games Act, and those found to be selling tickets can be fined up to £20,000.

The BBC's investigation was broadcast hours before remaining Olympic Games tickets go on sale to the public.

It will be embarrassing for Olympics organisers after facing criticism of the tickets ballot, which left many people disappointed.

Former Olympic minister, Tessa Jowell MP, called for an investigation and said: “I think it’s shocking. Here’s somebody who’s exploiting the system and if the charge against them is proven, the sanctions are very heavy.”

he report, aired on BBC London News, showed a reporter posing as a ticket dealer from the UK.

Mr Gerashchenko told the journalist: "I understand you’re a dealer – that’s why for me, you are priority number one, the top, the person, in case we have extra tickets to contact you, we contact you.”

At a later meeting at a hotel near the Olympic park in east London, he said he preferred cash to a bank transfer for the tickets.

Mr Gerashchenko has been the head of Ukraine's NOC since 1997.

But the BBC received a tip-off suggesting someone linked to the body might be prepared to sell tickets.

When confronted over the revelations that he was prepared to break British law, Mr Gerashchenko claimed he had “never planned to sell tickets in the UK” and had been making “diplomatic talk to satisfy the persistent interest of the ticket dealer”.

Olympic organising body, Locog, and the Metropolitan Police will be under increased pressure to tackle the potential for ticket touts with demand still high.

Scotland Yard has already launching Operation Podium, which was specifically set up to tackle organised crime aimed at taking advantage of the Games.

Ukrainian official suspended amid ticket scandal

The Ukraine National Olympic Committee launched an investigation on Tuesday and suspended a top official accused of offering to sell thousands of dollars worth of tickets for the London Olympics on the black market.

Ukrainian Olympic chief Sergei Bubka suspended general secretary Volodymyr Gerashchenko after a BBC report said he allegedly offered to sell 100 tickets for the July 27-Aug. 12 Games to a reporter posing as a ticket buyer.

Bubka, an International Olympic Committee (IOC) member who was attending meetings in Quebec City, said he would return home to Kiev, Ukraine, on Wednesday to the deal with the scandal.

"For us it is a really unpleasant situation, particularly for me as president of the National Olympic Committee," Bubka told reporters at a hastily arranged media briefing. "First I would like to say we have suspended Mr. Gerashchenko and started an investigation.

"We will create an independent commission to investigate what has happened."

Bubka said he had few details beyond the BBC report but had already informed Seb Coe, head of the London Olympic Organising Committee and IOC president Jacques Rogge of the situation

I was trying for Diving finals, I knew I wouldnt have a chance. The expensive ones are there the cheapest come back as cant be found. I want to see a possible Tom Daley final, not £500 though.

I got a semi final so gonna leave it at that. The searching time is pretty much instant now, rather than the 30 minutes earlier
