FDLondon
Saw one very clever feature today underneath the main bridge at Aquatic Centre but pics don't quite come out. It's a 'fountain' that spills water from under the bridge into the river but the water is in the shape of words that are lit up before they lose their form and splash into the river. Very very clever!

Mr Tickle
Im feeling the same way today Ive given up with the doom gloom merchants. If people are unhappy about these games now there is nothing I can do about it. I just plan on making the most of this unbelievable opportunity and experience. I will never see the like again, its a massive privilege I don't intend to waste. Come on London.....1 week.....just one more week after 7 years of waiting : )

markun
Here is Lord Coe on BBC Radio today: http://news.bbc.co.uk/today/hi/today/newsid_9739000/9739478.stm Lord Coe, who is in charge of the London Olympic organising committee, has said that people are "overwhelmingly very positive" about the games and that he believes there are no concerns over security. Interviewed by Today presenter Evan Davis, Lord Coe said: "It is very important to keep this in perspective. There are 4,000 people from G4S who have been working very successfully currently on the park and have been working successfully for many years on this. "This is not an issue that has remotely compromised security. This was actually about the supply and the mix, its never been about the numbers. We have got the numbers, courtesy of the military and our police services, we have got the numbers to make sure that this is a a safe and secure games." Asked about the rules on branding which will apply to spectators, Lord Coe said "you probably wouldn't be walking in with a Pepsi T-shirt because Coca-Cola are our sponsors and they have put millions of pounds into this project but also millions of pounds into grassroots sport. It is important to protect those sponsors." But asked whether he could wear Nike trainers, Lord Coe said: "I think you probably could..." There was an informal survey (by Twitter I think) that said that the programme was being to negative about the Olympics.

gotosy
Olympic flag to fly above No 10 The Olympic flag is being raised above Downing Street, a week before the Games begin. The five coloured rings set against a white background will be hoisted above No 10 as the countdown to the summer spectacle enters its final week. It will be replaced by the Paralympic flag for the duration of the Paralympic Games from August 29 to September 9. A No 10 spokesman said: "The 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games provide the greatest opportunity to showcase to the world all that is great about the UK, and Downing Street will be proudly displaying the Olympic flag from and the Paralympic flag next month. ... The flag, which will also be flown from Whitehall departments, will fly above Prime Minister David Cameron's London home for the duration of the Games, which officially begin next Friday and run until the closing ceremony on August 12. The International Olympic Committee, the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games and Westminster Council granted permission for the flag to be hoisted from the No 10 flagpole. As for the Coe interview, of course he'll say everything is ship-shape. Maybe it is, but I wouldn't expect any different from him if it wasn't. Would they really make a spectator change a Pepsi T-shirt??!! If so, that's going too far IMO.
kevzz
Reading today's Standard made me feel even more excited about the Games, final weekend guys! Other than the torch relay, anyone know anything interesting to see or do in London to get in the mood? Might pop to Greenwich Park tomorrow morning (if I can wake up early!) Reaction from a LOGOC spokesperson: Olympic ticket-holders will be "free to wear the clothing of their choice" inside Games venues, according to organisers, despite the Olympic delivery chairman, Lord Coe, saying people wearing advertising logos of non-Olympic sponsors would be turned away. NY20??
If wearing a t-shirt with the Pepsi logo on it is your idea of getting dressed, you actually don't deserve to enjoy the Games of the XXX Olympiad in London. You don't deserve to be happy.
kevzz
I think the most ridiculous one is still the 'no chips without fish' rule. If they start selling fish and McD's fries, can it be a symbol of bi-lateral between UK and US (and perhaps French for its namesake)?
Rob2012
The stories I heard said that McDonalds had a monopoly on French Fries at the Games. That's fine by me as long as everywhere else can sell chips.

Refreshing to see a positive piece... then you just laugh at the irony when you see the whingers and moaners in the comments below! http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/olympics/9415227/London-2012-Olympics-its-going-to-be-the-time-of-our-lives.html
