The London Olympic Stadium

Excellent. I'm sure whoever's sponsoring this will want to get the good publicity sooner rather than later, so I'm sure we'll be getting some good renders appearing in the not too distant future.

Let's keep the fan fares to the ticketing thread. We'll have only fanfares here.

Oh Rob - like your style - lol!!

Yeah will be good to renders - am sure they will revert to the original plan by the female artist - can't think of her name! I guess the company bankrolling it will be able to advertise the fact up to the olympics and receive a hefty chunk of Olympic tickets for their clients and employees!

I hope so, but why so sure?

I guess that they must have been so far down the line with the original plans - surely the original plan links-in with the coloured glass on the stairwells in the internal finishings? Also it wouldn't be cost effective to start from scratch?

You mean the redeveloped Berlin Olympic Stadium:

Where did you find the second image Davey?

They are both on the squint opera website in the stills section. They do all the London 2012 videos/animantions and they are both there. Ive never seen the one with the plain track before and Ive been on that site a few times, so thats what worries me, it makes me think its the most recent render.

In another find though, Westfield have added a section on areas people can rent during the games, broadcasters etc. In all their renders the stadium is wrapped in the rainbow effect and looks good, so do they know something we don't or is it just to make the renders pretty.

The views look fab though and Sky have rented the space havent they. The BBC must be fuming!!!!!

I seem to remember a time when the rainbow affect was created by coloured lights that could then change and create patterns at will. There was a video, I think of it, and it looks incredible. Is that still the plan or has it been droppen in favour of the simple fabric wrap?

Just to clarify, it was light shown on the white fabric wrap that created the affect, and now I'm wondering if they've changed it so that the wrap itself is painted like a rainbow.

Can't wait to see the finishing touches on the stadium.

BTW, I showed my 6 year old nephew the mascot videos, and he loved them. He wanted to watch it again the next day. It was a nice introduction to him about the Olympics.

Bought my 3yr old son a 'Wenlock' mascot. At the time he was 'reading / being read' an alien story book. Wenlock has become 'ugly bugly alien' - and my son adores him !
