I shall be there all weekend next weekend as I do my Volunteer Test Event at the Stadium, I shall take me Camera and get some shots for you.

Close up the wrap looks amazing, although it doesn.t go down to floor level it is suspended on a Metal platform which rings the entire Stadium around 12ft of the ground. Each stair case has coloured glass panals too, and there is room on the metal ring to house lighting. If you look carefully at the pic posted by SwissO you can see the metal ring.

Also when we were there last weekend for Stadium training they were testing some of the cables in the Stadium for the opening and closing cereomonies, some of them had weights attached to them which had up to 1000kg written on them.

The media tables are in as you can see form the pic above and if anyone is wondering what the empty seats are just a little further on from the media tables, that area will remain empty as it is the press pit area for photographers and media to get head on shots of the 100m.

It is amazing walking through the space both inside and outside as well as underneath in certain areas, we had the chance to be in the IOC hospitality area and were walked through the Presidential area but were not allowedinto the Royal area lol just looks soooooooooooo amazing....excellent. Our training room was in the Media Press Conference Room, everything is finished, however it is now just the finishing touches, so its still a little like a building sie but that is mainly in the VIP and Media areas, all public areas are done.

Hi Guys. Just discovered this forum and since working (in a minor way) on Sydney and Melbourne (Comm Games) have always been interested in the design of the games.

Anyway not sure if this has been mentioned in the thread yet but Populus has a website dedicated to their work on the games which includes some pretty nifty - if coy - visualisations of the wrap.

Check it out:

I have the feeling that they should really work hard on the wrap now... it's only 83 days to go and they've installed a total number of four panels. BTW, nice pics.

I think they will go all out as soon as the Test events are done, as they need full access to Oylmpic island to do so, as space is tight in some areas, all 'pods' are complete apart from 6 or 7 which are near the back of the stadium near the VIP area. and I can reveal that the food being sold will be....Fish & Chips, Pasties, Sweet Treats, Deli & Indian Food...These were closed today but the info was on the pods above the doors as well as the HUGE London 2012 shop Pod!!

The Stadium is amazing inside tho, and standing for 5 hours meeting & greeting spectators and guiding them to their seats was great fun, they all seemed to enjoy it...with the exception of 1 or who complained about the rain, as I stood there wet, I explained they could go into the shelter with in the pavillion areas, but the covered area at that time was for accredited athletes only!

The music was great, the crowd got behind everyone, and the atmosphere was great, cheering and clapping and helping the slower runners to get to the line, we only had 6000 to deal with and I finished my shift, the other 40,000 were arriving lol

I do have to say I was very impressed with the tube after, they made lanes on the bridge from Westfield to Stratford, and clear signs for which line you needed, and no queues just a few more people...amazing, very good crowd control!

Forgot to mention that the numbers are also clearly marked on the wrap for the seating sections, which really work well as that place truly is huge!!

Finally, I thought this was interesting. A guy drilling all on his own in the centre of the cleared area of seating below the scoreboards. He was there drilling in the same place the whole time we were there, which was a few hours. Looked like hard work too, must be for something to do with the ceremonies surely?

U just gave away the cauldron's location!

Its just off centre too which would be really weird. To be central it would be in that walkway. I think its got something to do with the ceremony staging. I'd put my money on that being where a big stage is gonna be built and they are drilling holes for securing it

Don't think it's the cauldron - all the seats in that section have been taken way as the audience can't sit beneath either of the screens at the opening

They will probably built a stage here for the ceremonies...
