Same BBC presentation of the Rio 2016 Opening Ceremony as in Bryan Pinkall's website but includes intro/bumper, Olympic Park studio banter with the amazing Claire Balding, Michael Johnson, and Sir Steven Redgrave, an Andy Murray interview, and segments on contemporary OC history and Olympic history and inclusion/controversies with better visual resolution and audio before sending it to Andrew Cotter and Hazel Irvine live at Maracana Stadium as it starts the biggest British offshore Olympics medal haul and then having a more complete studio reaction to the Opening Ceremony with BBC Rio journalist Julia Carneiro. Makes me wonder if the BBC was the only Olympic broadcaster worldwide to warn about flashing lights. After just watching this, I really DON'T want to see our NBC's "curated" version with Matt, Meredith, and Hoda in full even more so. Tell me what EXACTLY did NBC omit from their coverage? Didn't see it as I worked that night. Shown on BBC1:

TVE Espana's live HD presentation of the London 2012 Opening Ceremony from Lourdes Garcia Campos at TVE's studios in the IBC to the all-female duo of Maria Escario and Pamela del Rio covering the action, sights, and sounds with Ernest Riveras as reporter:

Back to when Spain hosted it in the heart of Catalonia when Barcelona of course did. This time instead of parts the full La 2 broadcast of the 1992 Opening Ceremony on Saturday July 25, 1992 Olga Viza and Matias Prats with some pre-OC material. La 2 sure loved promoting the hell out of Abigail TV series during this. I don't remember NBC showing several parts of this, but never as bad like it was with the Closing Ceremony. Canal Olimpica (aka TV3 Catalunya) did the live Catalan broadcast, in case you didn't know. No nation count from me this time:

He certainly stole the show with his coconut oil-glistening shirtless appearance as Tonga's flagbearer during Rio's Opening Ceremony online/social media and he took advantage of the attention surge while explaining the importance why he appeared as he did (hint: nothing sexually attracting). Taekwondo artist Pita Taufatofua--yes, he's handsome--here gets to perform his own commentary of those just-completed Opening Ceremonies including, yes, his very own moment coming into Rio De Janeiro's legendary Maracana Stadium that Friday early August night with the Tongan flag for the Olympic Channel:

That Soviet Red Army marching band that we see performing the music during the Moscow 1980 Closing Ceremony now gets its own solo videoclip, and it was actually known as the Combined Orchestra of the Moscow Garrison. The orchestra was lead by chief conductor, Colonel Nikolai Mikhailov. The musical composition song list from its participation inside Moscow's Lenin Stadium include (in order) Long Live Our State, Moscow in May, Grenadier, March of the Saratov Regiment, Phalanx March, and Song About the Soviet Army. And it was something I wanted to find out what the musical medly was since first watching this marching band perform several years ago. During the Soviet days, military marching bands used to sport at least 3 Turkish style cresents (you can see two here), and it's not in prominence as much with the present-day Russian ones, which use only one. Nonetheless, the cresents help the Russian ones connect with the Soviet past:

Someone named Super Catman uploaded at last the full Montreal 1976 Opening Ceremony and not serial, which comes at last under this format and is noticably shorter in comparision than the ones we see these days and in the then-recent past (even the Munich one four years earlier was decidedly longer) obviously because of the predominantly African boycott impacting this. However, it would be comparable to the many Winter versions we've seen in length. Would very much like eventually to see the CBC/Radio-Canada (be it English or French), BBC, or ABC broadcasts of this uploaded if it exists since this would be no different than the IOC worldwide broadcast feed ones with just the stadium audio used. The CBC has got to have this Opening Ceremony filed away in their video archives since it was part of a very important project in Canadian TV history:

The "skirt " thing at the Opening is straight out of Baku 2015's opening!!

The "skirt" thing seems to be a new trend in the world of ceremonies..

Here's another example of it..
