Love the Albertville Ceremonies- but that Cauldron burst into flame way before theflame from the torch hit it (14:55) !!!

I remember people bitched about the Barcelona cauldron lighting, saying the guy totally missed the target and the arrow landed in the parking lot. The intention was not to actually aim it inside the cauldron, but over the cauldron to light the fumes.

The full Televisa presentation of Barcelona's closing ceremony from Mexico. Footage at the end tends to last longer by numerous minutes than the RTO world feed with scenes at Montjuic Stadium of athletes, coaches, trainers, and volunteers still celebrating, running around, and milling about interspersed with external some shots of Barcelona (Las Ramblas?)

The area you're talking about is right in front of the MNAC (Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya). You'll see the venetian towers not too far from there. All the people walking away from the camera were heading to the subway station, which I believe is the closest public transportation spot to the area. So it's definitely not Las Ramblas. Las Ramblas is a long stretch of pedestrian area that's shaded by trees. You'll see a bunch of shops on the strip, but the best part about it though is their street performers.

Also, the area in front of MNAC is used for Barcelona's public gathering for the NYE celebration.

Diverting slightly from YouTube, has anybody previously mentioned that the BBC Motion Gallery Video Collection is now available through Getty Images? Zilions of short clips (many just a few seconds), including over 500, covering both 1948 and 2012, for a search on:

london olympic

There are a few clips relating to other Olympics, but not many.

PNG's EMTV concludes its coverage of the 2015 Pacific Games from Port Moresby with the Closing Ceremony that was filled with grass skirts, fireworks, and lots of music as part of the sampling of the Pacific cultures' diversity at BSP Stadium before the show moves to Nukuʻalofa, Tongatapu, Tonga in four years' time. This Games does a unique thing in issuing MVP awards to male and female athletes. In this case PNG swimming legend Ryan Pini, who also gets to serve at the Pacific Games' athletes board, and New Caledonia's Lara Grangeon, who competes for France when New Caledonia can't compete on its own merits and wasn't there to receive her award as she was perparing for Kazan, Russia for the FINA World Swimming Championship. Really more of concert than a formal CC:

As tomorrow marks the 15th anniversary (gosh!) of the Sydney 2000 Opening Ceremony, I have uploaded Channel 7's broadcast of "Olympic Eve" from the night before the Games, when the Olympic Torch reached the Olympic City. There are a few ceremony-related things throughout and I'm sure the whole thing will be of interest to many of you:

https://youtu.be/TY8r0ZR0WhI

I'll be uploading more Sydney related videos in the days to come which I won't be posting here, so subscribe to my channel if you're interested.

No worries :) Yes it was the most amazing time! Not sure how much I will put up on YouTube at this stage as I do have quite a large collection, but I've just added some September 15th stuff.

Would you believe there's actually another regional multisport event this year? Yes, another smaller scale one that perhaps more so than even the GSSE and the Pacific ones. More on par with the NatWest Island Games. Its the Indian Ocean Island Games that were just held in early August for 8 days in Saint-Denis, Reunion. For those who don't know, Reunion is a French Overseas Territory off Madagascar's east coast. Jackson Richardson and IAM rapper Shurik'n originate from there. The majority of the participating islands here are predominately French-speaking--several of are a part of the Francophone Games and compete as separate delegations. Here they all are: The Comoros, Seychelles, Mauritius, The Maldives, Madagascar, and the French Overseas Territories of Mayotte and hosts Reunion. The Comoros withdrew from competition immediately following the Opening Ceremonies after objecting over Mayotte's use of the French flag instead of the Indian Ocean Island Games one, as required by the its Charter, and the playing of the French national anthem. The broadcast comes from not France Televisions (not even its 0 channel) but from Reunion's own public broadcaster Channel 1, which endured some audio and video issues before the actual start. Everything's pretty modest here in scale and cost here:

And here's the Closing Ceremony from that. Also live like the OC in its broadcast

^^ Thanks, Durban. Its always nice to learn something new. I had no idea this regional sport event existed at all. Yesterday I also got to know about the Acadian Games (Jeux de l'Acadie) which are held in Canada every year by the sea provinces.

Next year, we will be hosting the 1st Spirit Games (Jeux des Esprits) -- the first multi-sport even in which spirits of dead ancestors of tribes can participate. Who wants to volunteer??

Short excerpt I found of the 1995 Universiade opening ceremony in Fukuoka, Japan. They already did ceremonies inside a indoor stadium before Vancouver made it cool. Also the cauldron is a bit reminiscing of Rio 2007 with its spherical shape.

The ceremony apparently also had other moments like forming the world map with fireworks (similar to the fire olympic rings of SLC and Athens) and bungy jumpers. Sadly this is all I could find, besides another small excerpt of the closing.
