not to mention you literally cannot tell where this will be by just looking at it... no host nation(s) mention, nothing even remotely close to any identifiable national colors / patterns, etc... it's all bad, not to mention it literally looks like a copy of the LA28 emblem template but worse

Looks like it's not just for 2026 going on the FIFA official article:

Sounds like it'll be a new generic logo for the World Cup as a whole, with only the block numbers changing each time. A bit like the Eurovision logo, where only the flag & surrounding design changes each time, the generic logo stays the same.

This was always going to be a difficult logo due to the 3 different host countries, so a more generic logo was always on the cards. This says LA28 to me as well.

I wonder if we will see the flags of the 3 countries being used as the colours of the 26 going forward. It's ok, but lacks the creativity of previous logos.

I'm tired of this stupid minimalist trend and the fact they are not even trying anymore with brands. Not just FIFA but the Olympics also are giving me this feel as of late (Paris at least its trying a bit more but....)

Its a literal PNG plastered over a badly drawn number 26. That's it. That's the logo.

Reminder that a """professional"" firm got paid thousands for this.

Although I agree the emblem itself is very minimalist, when you look at the brand activation we have seen so far the brand itself seems to have great potential.

Furthermore, the actual use of the emblem during the event itself is usually minimal. 

So I am willing to wait and see on this one.
