I'm curious why there are only 3 stadiums recommended from Mexico and a bunch of trash stadiums from Canada recommended. At least all of Mexico's stadiums have a large capacity and soccer-specific, whereas a lot of the ones in Canada are piss poor in size or just a completely stupid suggestion, like Rogers Center. But I guess now that they expanded the teams playing tp 48 the capacity of all stadiums might not have to be 30,000 or more.

Also, the US should throw out the Birmingham AL and Green Bay Wi stadiums for suggestion, and probably a few others. The last thing we need is to host an international event where we'll have people from all over the country visiting a city in one of the most racist states in the US, especially in our current social climate. And also, Green Bay is not a place worth visiting other than for a football game.

The individual countries obviously chose their own stadium suggestions, and the Canadian and Mexican stadiums reflect the realities of the football/soccer associations in those countries. The Canadian Soccer Association is hitching onto a US bid for the World Cup to try and grow their public awareness and the sport in general in their country. The CSA has listed as many stadiums as possible to try and generate excitement across Canada. Mexico, on the other hand, is already crazy about futbol. They don't need to drum up public support across the country.

I think Canada will ultimately choose Vancouver to go in a group stage with Seattle and one of the Californian stadiums, and Toronto + Montreal to go along with a midwestern US city. Maybe Seattle, Vancouver and Calgary could form a group together.

Out of the proposed 49 stadiums, about a 1/3 will be on the final 2026 list. After a venue or two in each Canada (Toronto & Montreal) & Mexico (MC & Guadalajara), that means about a dozen locations left to be across the U.S.

I see a lot of the new(er) stadiums in the big markets being a sure thing, like Levi & Inglewood in CA, a stadium or two in the South (i.e. Dallas &/or Atlanta), another stadium or two in the Midwest (i.e. Chicago &/or Minneapolis or maybe Detriot), & the rest being in the major Northeast market (NYC/Boston/DC/maybe Philly). Those other stadiums in those piddly cities won't be on there anyway.

Each city bid with their venues, I don't think they had a choice on the venues. Its boggling Winnipeg is not on the list (ie it means Winnipeg chose not to bid).

Rogers Center is probably the worst stadium on the list (as in chances to host). Its in the process of being converted to a baseball only stadium. BMO field was expanded with the 2026 World Cup in mind and if Toronto hosts that will be the stadium that hosts games.

Honestly, the fact that Mexico only has three cities just further expounds on the fact that Mexico is really really unnecessary.

As someone mentioned it's only offering 3 cities because they know the limit for them will be capped at either 2 or 3 cities. Might as well give them your 3 best. If you actually look at a list of soccer-specific stadiums and their capacity for Mexico, they have over a dozen already existing or in planning and are FAR better prepared to host a world cup all on their own under the current/old 32-team policy compared to Canada and their piss poor group of small and missfit stadiums.

Honestly canada suggesting so many stadiums when it knows only no more than 3 will be used, small 30,000 capacity and under stadiums, and to host games in a baseball-specific stadium and 2 athletics stadiums is hilarious and embarrassing when you have the US and Mexico bring forth nothing but 50,000+ capacity stsdiums who are equipped to give people great views of the soccer field. If there's anyone that shows they're unnecessary here, it's Canada, especially since being part of the joint bid is the only guaranteed way they would qualify for the world cup, had the roster not been expanded to 48. Even then that expansion might not have enough.

Jesus Christ mate, can you fucking ease up on Canada for a second?

All stadiums presented can be expanded to north of 40,000. The new stadiums in Saskatchewan, Vancouver and Toronto are all state of the art, and Calgary is looking to build a new facility. We're not hosting an games past the Round of 16, so having massive stadiums is not that big of a priority. Also, not exactly sure what the two athletics stadiums are, there's only one (Commonwealth) which has great sight lines anyways and just hosted a successful women's world cup. All of these stadiums presented (including Rogers Centre in soccer form) would be great venues to watch a soccer game.

You're a clown

The US sites will be:

Atlanta

Boston

Chicago

Denver

Kansas City

NYC

Philly

Seattle

Wash, DC

Florida and Texas will have two each  (Tampa or Orlando; and Miami)  and (Dallas and Houston)

California, being the most populous state could probably have 3 venues (2 in LA area, Levi Stadium for Northern CA; and/or maybe San Diego).

So you could get your top 16 from those.

I really hope that Foxborough's stadium is not chosen. Foxborough is not Boston any more than Reading is in London or Rotterdam is in Amsterdam.

New York/Jersey, Philadelphia and DC/Maryland should be the three mid-Atlantic cities chosen. Baltimore would be OK too.

No argument here. But he stepped up when the league was founded and, along with Lamar Hunt and Philip Anschutz. keep it going when it looked as if the league would go under after the 2001 season.  It was also he who persuaded Don Garber to leave the NFL and become MLS Commissioner, another important reason the league has made it to 22 seasons. Perhaps if the Revs were not the Buffalo Bills of MLS, having fallen short in all four MLS Cup appearances, Kraft would be thought of more favorably.

That's not it. It's simply that Kraft has offered institutional support for the league in the past, but not so much for his own team.

I admit that the stadium location hurts the Revs a lot, and if they had their own stadium in downtown Boston things would be a lot better. But that's ultimately my point with Foxborough. It works for the NFL because so many NFL fans love to tailgate. But it is an awful stadium for soccer fans, and should not be used for the World Cup.

They will find a way to make it easier for the soccer fans.  (The top performing MLS teams will be rewarded with venue selections.)   Also, there have been WORSE locations for World Cup matches ( who knows what logistical fiascos will await us next year in RUssia and ahem . . . the desert in 2022!)

I predict PORTUGAL will have a spot in Boston; and they will include Foxboro, even if only for the prelim rounds -- or maybe ONE quarterfinal.

Few thoughts I have about 2026

It's good to see usa host it after the Qatar screwjob.  I think the following stadiums will get it

Seattle

Levis stadium

Inglewood

Rose bowl

Phoenix

Dallas AT&T

Houston

Minneapolis

Indianapolis

Atlanta

Philadelphia

New York

Miami

Boston

However this world cup will truly showcase Today's greed.   Making it 48 teams? Then 3 team groups.  It's totally fixing what wasn't broken.   The world cup doesn't need to be bigger. Especially that it's really to take more Asian African and North American teams to be target practice for the Brazil Germany and Spain of the world.   32 is too big as it is.   So first you are moving the world cup to November December and fucking up the European leagues.  Champions leagues etc.   Then you are making it 48 teams? Ridiculous
