Victor Mata
Lillehammer starts in 10 minutes and this is still a bid thread? What's wrong with this site?
Brekkie Boy
Anyone who ever complains about too much money being spent on an Olympic Opening Ceremony should be forced to watch one of these. It's not awful but it's just doing the job - really glad though they're using the 1994 torch, though hope they don't go for a lazy firework effect to light it. Brekkie Boy
So another Royal gets to light cauldron. Probably my favourite cauldron though - no pretence it's anything other than a cauldron and a good solid structure.

Ikarus360
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bk_j3YFs6ZA Even Incheon ceremony was better than this crap. I hope all this whinning of "muh budget" in Rio 2016 ends soon or else we're going to have a ceremony like this in August.
Victor Mata
So far, the best ceremony of 2016 is the Super Bowl.
TorchbearerSydney
The Youth Olympic Games are for 13-18 year olds, I never understand why the ceremonies are pitched towards 5-10 year olds. The imagery, dancing, costuming etc are a bit lame.....
Victor Mata
Me too. Those teens at YOG are already drinking and having sex. It seems like the produces of YOG ceremonies never ever talked to teenagers about their minds and likes.
TorchbearerSydney
Imagine sitting an average 17-year old down to watch that Opening Ceremony- they would not find it very ' cool'...... It is a 60 year olds idea of what 'young people' would find entertaining......
Brekkie Boy
Probably didn't help that it was without commentary so nobody to spin the script they've been given and convince us it has some meaning. It was rather underwhelming though - the only cool bit was a very brief snowboards with reflections section.
Sir Rols
Only position g this because I'm a huge Assasin's Creed fan. And i wouldn't mind seeing parkour in some form at future games. Could be great televisual event! Ubisoft promoting parkour at the Youth Olympic Games Ubisoft and the Mouvement International du Parkour, Freerunning et l’Art Du Déplacement (known as The Mouvement) today announced that they are teaming up to promote parkour at the Youth Olympic Games, currently taking place in Norway. “The Mouvement is determined to help establish a positive relationship between gaming and physical practice. Ubisoft has a great track record of promoting parkour not just in gameplay but also for physical play, notably with the Assassin’s CreedExperience obstacle courses at the San Diego Comic Con for the past two years,” said Mouvement founding member Charles Perrière, “As we demonstrate and teach parkour at the Youth Olympic Games, we are grateful to be doing so with Ubisoft’s help.” “Ubisoft is delighted to support The Mouvement as they develop their sport,” said Stephanie Magnier, Vice President of Global Communications for Ubisoft. “Assassin’s Creed was one of the first video games to bring the physical movements they created into the lives of millions of people, and we are thrilled to see The Mouvement bringing the fun and challenge of this sport to the kids in Lillehammer by inviting them to try it for themselves.” “The founders of The Mouvement brought a fresh philosophy of freedom of movement into the world. It’s been an inspiration to us since we created the first Assassin’s Creed game” said Etienne Allonier, brand director at Ubisoft. “At Ubisoft and with Assassin’s Creed we share many of parkour’s core values of overcoming challenges, encouraging people to find their own path through the real world and of course having fun! We’re humbled to be able to give back to a sport that has inspired us so much and to help The Mouvement bring their message and sport to the young people attending the Youth Olympics.” stevivor
