@ ghost- why if one of the three were to drop out, couldn't the IOC have a vote with two cities?...they've done it before....

That's what I've heard in the news

About Sofia - yeah, I've expected to drop out, but not as 6. in the ranking

well the IOC can (and would hold a vote) if it was down to two, that is nothing new tot he IOC it has been doen in past WOG races...even if one city was left they still wouldn't redo the process, but rather just go with the remaining city

Yes, right, as for 2006 there were two cities for the vote

I didn't expect that Jaca was 5th, the evaluation report says that Jaca is not raeady in transport, acomodation and Olympic Villages.

I expected that the IOC accepted the high speed train proposed by Jaca 2014.

Jaca is out for a long time, four attemps and 0 shortlists... How can be possible that Jaca presents a 5th bid if it has never maked the shorlist?

Yeah, that kind of sucks for Jaca. Honestly, they are becoming like Istanbul with all these bids but atleast Istanbul has made the shortlist. I say that they give their Olympic bids a rest for quite a while.

I'm not surprised by 3 cities or the 3 that were chosen. The purpose of a shortlist is to make the selection process easier. With the shortlist, the IOC is eliminating the cities they don't feel are up to it.

Bidding is expensive, emotional and time consuming. There is no point in dragging a city through that if it really doesn't stand a chance or if the IOC isn't interested. I was hoping for Almaty, but they have sport programming issues to resolve first as do most of the other dropped countries.

There are always various factors on how a shortlist gets made, but I think 3 is all you really need. I suspect that given different circumstances, the 2012 race would have had a shortlist of 3 (NYC, Paris & London) if not for some political reasoning.

I agree with Kendegra _ with a list of 3, the IOC is at least showing some responsibility in at least only putting those through that have a real chance. Let's face it, those three were the obvious frontrunner anyway, it would have been tough, expensive and probably eventually fruitless for any of the others to continue.

I have probably said there before somewhere, but I can't wait to see how the Sochi 2014 bid will do against the two bids that went against Vancouver for 2010. Right now, I'm brain dead, but has this sort of thing occur before, when more than one bid that failed for a Games before become candidate cities again for the next Games?

Well, didn't both Salt Lake City and Ostersund bid in both campaigns for the 1998 and 2002 Winter Games?

Like I said, I'm brain dead, but that is one of many examples of that. Of course, it must be hard for Sweden to get the IOC to see it as a Winter Olympics host, as mentioned so many times.

Yes, it was a problem, but if you look to the evaluation report (pages 20 to 24) Jaca has a "high" score in this topic in which the problem of ceremonios is remarked.

The biggest problems are still in transport and accomodation, but i think that the scores in these topics are much lower that they should have been having in cosideraition the incorporation of Zaragoza (if we compare these scores with the 2010 bid, Jaca have hardly improved).

the mistake of the ceremonies out of Jaca was decisive, you want to recognize it or not,is incredible that one bid commits one mistake like this...I hope that we don´t have got more Jaca´s bids in 50 years...

I have already said that was a problem for the bid, but IN MY OPINION this wasn't the decisive mistake, there were other mistakes which wouldn't have permit to celebrate a Games in Jaca, mistakes more difficult to solve...

No me vas a hacer cambiarla...
