Wasn't an official Australian Olympic broadcaster that it would be two years later after Seoul 1988 (like Nine was then). But Network Ten was also there in London sending its news team there.

PTV Sports' promo for its exclusive and live coverage of London 2012

Digicel since acquired IMC, parent company of Caribbean broadcaster of the 2010-2012 Olympic cycle SportsMax, two years after 2012 for an undisclosed sum:

16.6 million Canadians, roughly half of the Canadian population, watched at least a portion of the CTV's live presentation of the London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony. It is the highest-rated Canadian TV Summer Olympic Opening Ceremony broadcast:

2 things here..

1) Durban, any particular reason you waited until 2 1/2 years after the London Olympics to share this with us? Should have waited another 2 weeks.. would have been an even 1000 days since the start of the London Olympics

2) Interesting how the number you chose to share was the number that watched at least a portion of the broadcast. Not the AVERAGE viewership which is only 6.4 million. Or that Canada went to a new ratings system in 2009 that makes it tough to compare prior years.

And JMark, pretty sure that's not going to influence NBC when their tape-delayed broadcast did this..

Olympics 2012: NBC finds vindication in opening ceremony record

Friday's opening ceremony -- beamed to Americans mostly in prime time, hours after the marathon spectacle of parades, speeches and performances had wrapped up across the pond -- was the most-watched for any Summer Olympics, with an average of 40.7 million viewers tuning in, according to Nielsen.

The previous record-holder, the 1996 Atlanta games, drew 39.7 million. The Beijing ceremony delivered 34.9 million four years ago.

Canada, average viewing (live): 6.4 million out of a total 2012 population of 34.75 million = 18.4%

USA, average viewing (delayed): 40.7 million out of a total 2012 population of 314.1 million = 13%

ESPN Brasil's London 2012 promo going by the numbers of what was expected back then in London on ESPN, ESPN Brasil, and ESPN+ in over 72 hours of daily Olympic programming all live between the three channels with nice scenic shots of downtown London

The Latin American (Spanish) version of ESPN, live on ESPN+, has a discussion of what was to come at the 2-day countdown with Michael Phelps, Rocky Balboa, Danny Boyle and the OC, among other things, exchanging banter with Miguel Simon and Fernando Palomo between Olympic Park and the ESPN studios at the IBC
