Delhi 2010 Opening Ceremony Live Chat

Ok this is getting better now :) And i gotta say this is a very old school ceremony, giving more focus on the performers rather than the objects and effects.

With such a diverse and rich culture, they can easily do that. There is so much to showcase without the use of pyrotechnics and technical wizardry!

In someways better to delay coverage with each break rather than cut chunks out. You'd think though ceremony organisers would do something similar to Eurovision and plan filler segments (like the India promo we saw) where ads can be put in without missing anything crucial.

And you just knew they couldn't get to the end without Jai Ho. BBC bored now though and decided to talk over it so they can rush to a conclusion.

And so it is over. I felt India passed the first major test. And thank God they stuck to largely cultural dances and song, since this is something most of the performers can do without requiring countless rehearsals. And the spontaneity showed through very well!

Like i said before, this was a kind of old-school ceremony, with more focus on the performers rather on the objects or special effects. My favorite segments so far were Yoga and the Great Indian Journey. I liked the joy and spontaneousty of the performers, which was a huge contrast to Beijing ones.
