London Prepares is what they're branding the series of (otherwise unrelated) test events for each venue. Some events are ticketed, others not. A fair amount have taken place already (they started in May), lots more to come next year.

The schedule:

The Gamesbids thread:

Thank you for the information. With 2012 a few weeks away, I was wondering what the overall event was all about. You know that better than me, not to be patronizing. Anyway, I cannot wait to see the venues completed in time for the Olympics.

Artistic Gymnastics: O2 test event

LONDON -- The British men finally have an invite to their own Olympic party, winning the final qualifying meet in a rout Tuesday.

Needing to finish in the top four of the eight teams competing at the O2 Arena, Britain blew away its rivals with a commanding score of 358.227 in front of its fans in southeast London. The British needed to compete at the test event after a meltdown at last fall's world championships.

France finished second -- 7.568 points behind Britain -- with Spain and Italy completing an all-European set of qualifiers.

Britain hasn't sent a full men's team to an Olympics since 1992. With the women having already qualified, both British teams will be at the same Olympics for the first time since the boycotted games in 1984.

So, the CONCACAF Women's qualifying is underway. I watched a bit of the USA's 14-0 drubbing of the Domincan Republic. Canada and Mexico won big as well. It's probably going to be USA vs. Costa Rica and Canada vs. Mexico for the two Olympic spots and a lot of unwatchable games in between.
