walei Posted August 23, 2010 Report Posted August 23, 2010 OUTSTANDING MUSIC DIRECTION DAVE PIERCE, Music Director Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games Opening Ceremony NBC Yay! I loved the OC music!
ceezeelee Posted August 23, 2010 Report Posted August 23, 2010 (edited) The OC music was fantastic! Perhaps the most memorable since John Williams' 1996 "Summon the Heros" and his 1984 theme for Los Angeles! Edited August 23, 2010 by ceezeelee

Probably both and/or Vancouver's Broadcast team as well.
mr.x Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 Does he even deserve an Emmy? I watched the NBC coverage for the second time the other day, the camera work was particularly utter crap (like CTV). They should really just stick to using the main Olympic Broadcasting Systems feed, which was far more superior and really makes the show look sleek. Watching NBC and CTV was like watching an entirely different show, no wonder why there were complaints by some others....
drumcorpsboy Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 Emmy voters are given "for your consideration" videos that aren't necessarily what was shown on TV. I bought the Salt Lake OC Emmy video on ebay (shh, don't tell anyone) which won several 2002 Emmys and it's slightly different from what NBC showed on national television (and without commentary...whoohoo!)

I have the same. It's just MINUS the audio commentary AND thank God, a shortened March of Nations. But otherwise, that was essentially the same version shown on NBC. It's just called the "world feed" because it cuts out all the pro-USA commentary which would come from the US-NBC commentators.
drumcorpsboy Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 I was a little bummed, they cut the Parade of Nations on the video...I like part, even if it can be boring at times. Anyway, I think they just used the raw fee - or world feed as you called it - but skipping over the parts that wasn't shown on TV due to commercial breaks.
walei Posted September 9, 2010 Author Report Posted September 9, 2010 CTV camera work was horrendous! NBC was alright but the best is as Mr. X. said, the OBS feed. I was thinking whether the win for lighting direction has something to do with the cool projections, that's why I asked whether the win was for the NBC crew or the actual ceremony crew. Also, a third one: BEST DIRECTING FOR A VARIETY, MUSIC OR COMEDY SPECIAL (Winner) Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games Opening Ceremony (NBC)
Citius Altius Fortius Posted September 9, 2010 Report Posted September 9, 2010 Did Beijing's OC win an Emmy too?
drumcorpsboy Posted September 9, 2010 Report Posted September 9, 2010 I'm not sure...I always assumed only American-hosted Olympic OCs were eligible for Emmys since I don't remember 1998 and 2000 getting nods (only 1996 and 2002 on). I'm pretty sure I remember Beijing's at least getting nominated for some categories.
