DesmondChan Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 Quick info! You can view online webcast thru www.youtholympicGames.org Just found out thru the Twitter. And my event manager for modern pentathlon has told me that BBC and NBC will have the coverage as well.
memorabilia Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 That's good news. I looked for the time of the ceremony ... but did not find it on the official website !!! Who could confirm the time of this ceremony ??? Thanks
ceezeelee Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 (edited) It starts at 8.10 pm SGP which is plus 8 hours GMT this sat. If you are on the pacific west coast it will be around 4am? Anywhere east of that - it would be on at least at an earthly hour! Edited August 10, 2010 by Changzhi Lee
DesmondChan Posted August 11, 2010 Author Report Posted August 11, 2010 The show start at 8pm Singapore time, and it will have a countdown segment that lasts for 10 mins.
micheal_warren Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 Thanks for letting me know. As far as I know there is no coverage in New Zealand.
DesmondChan Posted August 12, 2010 Author Report Posted August 12, 2010 Anyone who want to get first hand YOG atmosphere in Singapore, you can add me in Facebook. My email is hionghong_81@yahoo.com. I'm using I-Phone to upload instant photos.
mr.x Posted August 13, 2010 Report Posted August 13, 2010 So, the Opening is between 8 pm to 10.30 pm Singapore time...which means it'll start at 5 am in North American Pacific Standard Time Zone?
DesmondChan Posted August 14, 2010 Author Report Posted August 14, 2010 Hi Mr. X, are you in Vancouver? If yes, Vancouver time is 16 hours behind Singapore time, which means could be 4am in Vancouver.
memorabilia Posted August 14, 2010 Report Posted August 14, 2010 Am i the only one that could not connect to the broadcasting website ??? I just arrived in Russia, and it doesnt work !!!! Is there some russian friends here, that could tell me where i could see it !!!!
memorabilia Posted August 14, 2010 Report Posted August 14, 2010 (edited) After trying and trying.... i am finally on the website.... but very very slow... and impossible to get the live feed ! .... I am finally in !!! ... but still slow with freezing video sometine ! And would love to get it wihtout comments.... Edited August 14, 2010 by memorabilia
Olympian2004 Posted August 14, 2010 Report Posted August 14, 2010 Dammit... Always the same issues with those webcasts for events of (apparently) high public interest. Why is it still impossible in the year 2010 to provide sufficient server capacity to handle such high amounts of traffic? Thank you, IOC (or organising committee) for thereby excluding the many countries in the world whose TV stations don't broadcast the ceremony (or anything else from the YOG).
Olympian2004 Posted August 14, 2010 Report Posted August 14, 2010 The picture not only freezes every couple of seconds, but after three minutes (or so) you even get completely kicked out of the webcast. Big, big, big failure!
memorabilia Posted August 14, 2010 Report Posted August 14, 2010 (edited) The picture not only freezes every couple of seconds, but after three minutes (or so) you even get completely kicked out of the webcast. Big, big, big failure! Same here (regarding the fact that every 3 minutes, i should restart the feed) ! Edited August 14, 2010 by memorabilia
Olympian2004 Posted August 14, 2010 Report Posted August 14, 2010 Now it's suddenly running. But I bet that will change soon...
zainhasan15 Posted August 14, 2010 Report Posted August 14, 2010 OMG I cant find a single channel broadcasting this ceremony. stadium waters and drums reminded me Athens 2004 13 August ceremony
memorabilia Posted August 14, 2010 Report Posted August 14, 2010 Not too bad actually, exept this stupid web-broadcasting ! Good job from OBS, in term of images...
Olympian2004 Posted August 14, 2010 Report Posted August 14, 2010 Now the picture freezes every couple of seconds and I kicked out every 60 seconds.
zainhasan15 Posted August 14, 2010 Report Posted August 14, 2010 despite of my fast connection, I am getting very slow feed.
Ikarus360 Posted August 14, 2010 Report Posted August 14, 2010 Heh, not even the web-broadcasting is good way to go. I'm having serious problems watching this (not telling i couldnt even watch anything) I'll try finding somewhere else to watch the ceremony. If i manage to, i'll post the link here
gotosy Posted August 14, 2010 Report Posted August 14, 2010 yea beautiful images but still freezing, looks like a slide show
Olympian2004 Posted August 14, 2010 Report Posted August 14, 2010 The funny thing is: Whenever a song is performed (first the Singapore anthem, then that piano player's song), the webcast works fluidly for me. But whenever there are other performances, with more movement and camera cuts, the picture starts to freeze again. So I hope there are many more songs to come.
mr.x Posted August 14, 2010 Report Posted August 14, 2010 Much better than expected so far, I've been watching since the big flash dance at the beginning....but it really lacks originality, seems like these are all ideas from previous Olmypic ceremonies. The show also looks quite expensive, at least from a Canadian $ view point.
Ikarus360 Posted August 14, 2010 Report Posted August 14, 2010 Hmmm that dragon doesnt look quite bad if you ask me
