Ski great Read latest to join Own the Podium

Own the Podium continued its restructuring Wednesday, naming former Olympic skier Ken Read its director of winter sport.

The move comes a day after John Furlong, chief executive officer of the Vancouver Olympic organizing committee, was introduced as chairman of OTP's advisory board.

Former Olympic swimmer Alex Baumann was named the program's interim CEO last month after Roger Jackson stepped down from the post.

Read, who was president and CEO of Alpine Canada from 2002 to 2008, will work with Own the Podium's high-performance sport advisers and technical specialists to ensure common vision, goals and strategies. He will also formulate funding recommendations to the senior management team, lead annual reviews and develop new policies and programs... (continued)

This is a very good decision. Ken will do an excellent job for Canada.
