I just watched an interesting programme about the Plöger family from Frankfurt, which emmigrated to Vancouver - they were owners of a very popular deli in Frankfurt.

They opened a new deli in Kitsilano and I have to say that district seems to be quite nice - does anybody from our Vancouvian members know that part of Vancouver

Yes, I lived in that neighbourhood for a while. It is a nice area and very popular with young people because it is close to the beach, has many amenities, and is a short trip to downtown or the University of BC.

Used the be counter-culture ("hippie") neighbourhood in the 60s. In the 70s it began its transition to something more trendy--and pricy. Today it's where a lot of UBC students rent dingy basement apartments from folks whose houses have HUGE mortgages. I doubt you could buy even a horrible little bungalow for less than CA$1 million (because of the land value).

Kits Beach has a great outdoor saltwater pool; in fact the seawall heads east towards the Olympic Village, then north and west towards the West End, then north and east towards the convention centres. Wonderful to skate or bike!
