Jim Armstrong was taken into custody April 15 in Blaine, Wash., after he picked up the bogus tablets from a U.S. postal outlet, according to a U.S. federal court complaint. Customs officials in Los Angeles intercepted the package of allegedly counterfeit goods from China on April 7. They allowed the package to go through and police were waiting for Armstrong, 59, as he exited the post office, the complaint said. Armstrong, a retired dentist from Richmond, B.C., told the arresting officer his son had purchased the drugs so he could distribute them at Vancouver-area clubs, according to the complaint. Armstrong was charged with trafficking in counterfeit drugs and was released from custody on a $20,000 bond. He is due back in U.S. District Court April 30.
