Lord David Posted March 29, 2010 Report Posted March 29, 2010 Ok now that "everyone" is bugging me as to what one should add for their bid book the answer: We will follow the following format: - A bid Logo. Please, consider yourself as an APPLICANT for the duration of the Applicant stage and not a CANDIDATE. Remove Olympic rings too (Exemption will be made should you wish to use your National Olympic Committee logo as the logo - A Brief introduction to your city. - Key dates for the Olympics and Paralympics. - Games concept. Your overall concept for the games, clustering of venues and how your games will be unique from others, previous bids or previous hosting of the Olympics. - Sporting Venues. A chart will be ideal, though not necessary. just list existing (no works required), those that are existing (works required), to be built (proposed or additional, with additional being venues which are built only if the games are awarded, whilst proposed being built outright) and temporary games only sporting venues. About the sports: We will currently have the sports in the upcoming edition of the Olympics as the sports required in your bid. Given that Rugby 7's and Golf are now included in the Olympic programme, they will be a part of your bid. As for the removed sports of Baseball and Softball, you may include them in your bid too, if you wish (these sports are optional, but if you want them in your bid, you will need to put both, not just one of the two). Look at the recent IOC evaluation report for 2016 and the 2012 one if you want the list of sports and recommended seating capacities (i.e they are a guide, your venue plan may included lower capacities if necessary). The IOC reports can be found here (in which the real bid books may also give you some insight as to what to include or even bid information): http://www.thebidlibrary.com/ - Athletes' Village, Hotels and Media Villages. No need to go all out and make a hotel chart (you can if you wish ), but just a paragraph or two about your hotel concept, where hotels are to be grouped etc. The proposed Athletes' Village, or if necessary, villages. The proposed Media Village(s), should you not propose to use hotels for the Media or there are currently insufficient hotels to support the Media. - International Broadcasting Centre and Main Press Centre. Just a brief paragraph about where the IBC and MPC will be located. - Transport concept. The proposed main airport and additional airports if available or if necessary. The proposed public transport network, whether it be buses, light rail, subway etc. Likewise, a chart is unnecessary. - Past Sporting Experience. Doesn't need to be thorough, but a list of past sporting experience from your city and country in the last 10 years. - Maps. All appropriate maps, with venue locations, Airport, IBC/MPC, Athletes' Village, Media Village, main hotel area(s) etc. - Charts. Any charts you see fit (primarily the venue one) may go here. Other rules: A minimum of 10 pages and a maximum of 20 pages please. I will give you until Friday, April 2nd, 12 am Australian Eastern Standard Time to post your bidding city (assuming you haven't done so). We will have 2 to 3 weeks to compile our bid books. Hopefully a adjudicator will be found amongst us to assist in compiling a report. I'm in this competition too! So that's why I want some other party to be involved as to not be biased. Should anyone want this role, please raise your hand! We will then have a vote after the CANDIDATE cities have been selected and an IOC report has been published (at that point, feel free to put CANDIDATE CITY on your logos and the Olympic Rings). I forecast about a week for the vote (you may not vote for yourself! I will make the vote public so we know who voted, voting for yourself will not count and will make such a vote void). If you wish, you may follow all IOC questions, and post a brief pamphlet for this competition. But do remember to post the brief version, you may if you wish post the IOC version elsewhere. Oh and one last thing, please, do not post your bid city intentions or whatever here, that's what this thread is for: I will update this, if necessary.
Rafa Posted March 29, 2010 Report Posted March 29, 2010 Would it not be wise to just use the IOC applicant file as a guideline and leave out certain sections. The Paris 2012 application file keeps things quite brief and to the point and should be used as a guideline to the maximum content required. Use Paris 2012 as the applicant file Cover: Bid logo Part 1 Introduction Concept Exclude public opinion Exclude entire Part 2 Part 3 (ALL) Stick to vital figures - Candidature Budget - Games Budget - OCOG Revenue Potential Part 4 (ALL) - Venues - IBC/MPC Part 5 (Olympic Village moved from Part 4, Media village moved from "Accommodation") -Olympic village - Media village/Accommodation Part 6 - Hotels - Other Accommodation Part 7 - Existing, planned, additional transport infrastructure - Airports - Transport challenges (only include Games times solutions/plans e.g. dedicated lanes) - Distances and journey times (at least the times between the main clusters and main venues) Part 8 - Dates of games - Population - Experience - Meteorology (copy the average temperatures table from Wikipedia) - Security (Optional) Required Tables/Appendices Appendix 1: Map A (Games concept) A basic map or diagram indicating Games concept. Make sure the concept is clear. Example: If its a two cluster concept, simply use two circles with the distances between then indicated as well as a dot for the location of the OV. The following must be indicated(using abbreviations or dots) with relevant distances MV OV IBC/MPC Airport IOC Hotel Precinct Appendix 2: Venues Separate each category Existing Venues - Temporary Works required Existing Venues - Permanent works required Additional Venues - Planned Additional Venues - New Additional Venues - Temporary Appendix 3: Distances and Journey Times Only use the main clusters e.g. Along the left Cluster A Cluster B Cluster C Along the top OV MV Olympic Stadium Airport Main Hotel Precinct MPC/IBC

Rafa Posted March 29, 2010 Report Posted March 29, 2010 I am really hoping that the above format becomes fixed, so that we can really compare bids. So here are the compulsory numbers. Each section on a new page. You do NOT have to fill the page. If you use half the page, leave the remained blank. See Paris 2012 In total Cover Page + 19 pages + 3 Appendices Cover: Bid logo Part 1 1.1 Introduction Page 1 1.2 Concept, Motivation etc. Page 2 Exclude public opinion Part 2 (ALL) Stick to vital figures 2.1 Candidature Budget Page 3 2.2 Games Budget Page 4 2.3 OCOG Revenue Potential (only vital figures, see Paris 2012) Page 5 Part 3 (ALL) 3.1 Venues Page 6 and 7 3.2 IBC/MPC Page 8 Part 4 4.1 Olympic village Page 9 4.2 Media village/Accommodation Page 10 Part 5 5.1 Hotels Page 11 5.2 Other Accommodation (Alternatives to hotels? residences? apartments?) Page 12 Part 6 6.1 Existing, planned, additional transport infrastructure Page 13 6.2 Airports Page 14 6.3 Transport challenges (only include Games times solutions/plans e.g. dedicated lanes) Page 15 6.4 Distances and journey times (at least the times between the main clusters and main venues) Appendix 3 Part 7 7.1- Dates of games Page 16 7.2- Population Page 17 7.3- Experience Page 18 7.4- Meteorology (copy the average temperatures table from Wikipedia) Page 19 Appendices Appendix 1: Games Concept Map A (Games concept) A basic map or diagram indicating Games concept. Along the left Cluster A Cluster B Cluster C Along the top OV MV Olympic Stadium Airport Main Hotel Precinct MPC/IBC Conclusion would be nice but optional Anything else is optional e.g. Security, "look of the Games", demonstration sports.

Also, if you would like to add a bid logo, or change the one that I did myself, please notify me with a link, thanks. Now get cracking, by all means use London's Pictogram set (Silhouette) to represent the sports on your venue map(s). Feel free to attempt to make your own for the other sports. You will have 3 weeks to work on this, thanks.
fatixxx Posted April 2, 2010 Report Posted April 2, 2010 You will have 3 weeks to work on this,.. Lord can you make 4 weeks of that .. knowing in backmind that some members are working .. if other contestants are ok with this of course ?? best regards fatih civelek
Lord David Posted April 2, 2010 Author Report Posted April 2, 2010 Yes, yes we are all working and such, but 3 weeks it is. I will give a week extension if necessary. I feel dragging this out for too long would end this like the other recent contests.
thatsnotmypuppy Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 Oh by the way I am not doing Las Vegas - I am doing Shanghai. It shouldn't make a difference as I have committed to being a part of the competition either way - so its just a change of city.
Lord David Posted April 4, 2010 Author Report Posted April 4, 2010 Hmm can't seem to edit previous posts anymore, why is that? Very well, Shanghai, China it is.
thatsnotmypuppy Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 It only lets you edit for a short amount of time - 24 hours or so I think?
baron-pierreIV Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 Istanbul, Turkey. - fatixxx Fatixx, what dafeck is that thing for the head? Is that a buoy? Somebody's thumb? A drag queen's head hiding in her chador?
OneTimeOnly Posted April 5, 2010 Report Posted April 5, 2010 Fatixx, what dafeck is that thing for the head? Is that a buoy? Somebody's thumb? A drag queen's head hiding in her chador? I thought the whole thing was supposed to resemble a whirling dervish.
DannyelBrazil Posted April 5, 2010 Report Posted April 5, 2010 Fatixx, what dafeck is that thing for the head? Is that a buoy? Somebody's thumb? A drag queen's head hiding in her chador? risos
canary Posted April 14, 2010 Report Posted April 14, 2010 When is last day for send BID BOOK? and what email for it? Thanx
Lord David Posted April 15, 2010 Author Report Posted April 15, 2010 When is last day for send BID BOOK? and what email for it? Thanx Well, I'm not exactly sure at the moment, make it 2 more weeks minimum, I'll post the email(s) in which to send it to. Alternatively, I could just tell you guys to host it yourselves. When the time comes you'll know.
baron-pierreIV Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 I thought the whole thing was supposed to resemble a whirling dervish. OK, now it resembles that except the head is usually connected to the dervish's body and the skirt is also whole. But see, it didn't click the first time.
