SkiFreak
In slopestyle, athletes do tricks while going down the mountain and through "features" — rails, big jumps and bumps. American snowboard star Shaun White, who won the halfpipe gold medal in Vancouver, has said he would like to add slopestyle to his schedule if it's approved for Sochi. Ski slopestyle is similar to the snowboard version. In other words, it's going thru what we call at the ski hill a Terrain Park. Sun Peaks, Big White and Silverstar ski resorts all have pretty good Terrain Parks.

Ikarus360
Yup, that one. They already started constructing it some months ago, Baron (and imo the works are going pretty well, i dont think they will suffer any delays). The transportation works is which worries me more. And there I was thinking it was an invitation to meet lovely Russian ladies who are available online for friendship Seriously though, impressive construction but there is a slight mind-boggle factor seeing Olympic Winter Games venues within spitting distance of calm blue sea water. And yes, I know Vancouver had some similar set ups but still...

Vladislav Feoktistov
Chernyshenko says a decision was taken to improve the design of the 40,000-seat Olympic stadium, which is currently under construction. The venue will now be fully covered to better protect spectators from the elements."It's good for legacy as it will help provide year-round exploitation of the venue," he said, adding that the additional work on the roof structure would not change the June 2013 completion date. http://aroundtherings.com/articles/view.aspx?id=37836 Good bye, snow caped mountains and sails concept! baron-pierreIV
From the design, it looks like they will copy the technology for the Dallas Cowboys stadium. It will be a better Winter Games Ceremony, if it's a roofed structure.
oakydoky
I think the arena plan sounds great. The current design is really smart. But with a covered roof, it obviously allows for the ceremony teams to plan with greater faith knowing that adverse weather need not affect any potential plans. And if the translucent roof is kept, it will still be an airy stadium, situated close to the sea.
