mr.x
These pics below are the crowds at approximately 4 pm today Vancouver time, just one hour after we won the men's ice hockey Olympic gold a few blocks away. An estimated 400,000 are in the streets partying. Because of the crowds, many more roads have had to be shut down to vehicles for pedestrian-only streets. In fact, all bus service in and into the Downtown peninsuala have been canceled. All bridges into the peninsuala have also been shut down and before I left I saw thousands walking over the Cambie Street and Granville Street bridges into the city centre. People have to walk across the bridges in order to take the bus or they can take the subway/SkyTrain or the SeaBus ferry. Today at 4pm (and last I heard, as of midnight time right now it's even more packed...it probably won't end until late tomorrow morning): It's like this for about 20 blocks: Crowds keep going and going:

temo
It's no where near as packed as it was after the game, more of a late night crowd now, but still very noisey.

mr.x
VANCOUVER Granville Street yesterday...Granville Street Bridge is in the distance, closed yesterday because of 500,000 people in the peninsuala Every Canadian community was at an uproar when we won the gold medal game yesterday....particularly Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, Halifax, etc. In Vancouver and in all of these communities, every street was blaring with car horns going off every 3-secs for 4 hours. SkiFreak
Here in Kelowna, there were people out on the streets waving flags and cheering. Lots of cars honking too. It was great.
