slgames
I've seen quite a few cross-country, biathlon, and nordic combined skiers start celebrating before they cross the finish line. I even saw one guy who went over to the crowd, grabbed a flag, and celebrated before he crossed the line. Why hasn't Rogge complained about this? Faster
Its traditional. There has been lots of athletes over the years celebrating as they are in the finishing stretch with a comfortable lead. Especially since after they cross the line they usually collapse. Marathoners etc do it when they are clearly in the lead and don't need to worry about being passed.
slgames
Yeah, and I thought that Usain Bolt had a big enough lead in the 100m that he didn't need to worry about being passed.
Rob2012
Oh yes, Rogge did have a moan about that didn't he. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/othersports/olympics/2594776/Usain-Bolt-criticised-by-Olympics-chief-Jacques-Rogge.html
SkiFreak
This thread reminds me of that old SNL commercial with John Belushi for Little Chocolate Donuts: Check out the video... http://www.ifood.tv/video/john_belushis_little_chocolate_donuts Except here Belushi crossed the finsh line before celebrating . What an athlete, love the smoke in his hand.
slgames
Wonder if the fact that the cross-country skiers have a "different appearance" than Usain Bolt has anything to do with it?
