And Canada wins barely by their fingernails.

Great game!!! Congrats Canada. The end of the games couldn't be more memorable could they? But a bit sad for the American team, they were so close to get it.

OMG What a great game!!

I was at this bar in Taipei, the game started at 4:15AM here and the place was PACKED.

It was touching, and weird, hearing the entire bar singing O Canada :D

Great end to a very memorable Olympics! Very proud of Vancouver!

26 million Canadians watched hockey final

Ted Brellisford, The Hamilton Spectator.

Some 80 per cent of Canadians watched part of the Olympic hockey final with an average audience of 16.6 million viewers, according to CTV.

The game aired live on nine television networks in eight languages, the host broadcaster said.

Some 26.5 million Canadians took in part of Canada's 3-2 overtime win over the U.S.

The closing ceremonies averaged 14.3 million viewers, with 24.5 million watching some part of the broadcast.

South of the border, NBC said the hockey final was the most-watched hockey game in the U.S. in 30 years.

The NBC broadcast drew an average viewership of 27.6 million, the biggest hockey number since the U.S. versus Finland 1980 gold medal game in Lake Placid (32.8 million).

Sunday's NBC audience peaked at 34.8 million when American Zach Parise sent the game to overtime with a goal with just 24.4 seconds left in regulation.

Don't you think Chris Cuthbert's call of "Crosby scores! Sidney Crosby! The golden goal! And Canada has its once-in-a-lifetime Olympic gold! These Golden Games has its crowning moment!" would be right up there with Foster Hewitt's "Henderson scores for Canada!" in the greatest Canadian sports TV calls?

And how cool was it that just before Jacques Rogge presented the gold medal to Sid the Kid, he smiled and raised his hand up to the crowd to cheer louder for him as if to say, "Come on, give it up for your hero"? :D

I was so glad Chris Cuthbert called it.... I figured they'd give it to Gord Miller who is absolutely horrid. I don't think it will ever touch the Henderson call, but it certainly will be up there. CBC were fools for ever letting Cuthbert go.
