So councilor Minan Wong e-mailed me confirming it was supposed to be on the agenda yesterday but it wasn't.

I'm curious, did you end up getting any other information from Wong?

Long time lurker, new poster here. I see it has been quiet. What's going on with Toronto?

Welcome to GB. Nothing much, last month a report was supposed to be presented and it did not happen for unknown reasons.

Thank you.

I knew about the city report. I was just wondering if anyone knew when it's going to be made public?

I'd assume in the April 16 meeting. However the schedule is not published yet for the meeting.

I'm thinking they're waiting until after city council votes on a downtown casino development. That report was just released. It's probably too much for Torontonians to digest together since the casino is such a big topic at the moment. They'll probably release it just before the 2020 vote.

To be blunt, I think Toronto should sit it out. Regardless of where 2024 is, and pending 2028 is not in the US , Canada would have a better shot at the likes of 2032. Learn from Madrid.

Well many of us don't. If they lose they bid again if they win great. You can't win a race unless you are competing.

I think Toronto should bid for 2024 (its 48 years after montreal 1976). Australia had its 2nd summer Olympics after 44 years (1956-2000), so its logical. Madrid should bid for 2032-2036.

Australia hasn't had 2 Winter Olympics in between, though, like Canada has. Three Olympic Games for a country of relatively small size is quite a feat. No other country of similar size can say the same. The Madrid comparison is quite appropiate in this case.

But it if we conveniently wanna forget about the Winter Olympics, France by 2024 would've waited 100 years, Italy 64 years, Germany 52 years (& they haven't even hosted a Winter Olympics since 1936, either), Japan 60 years & South Africa & Turkey have never hosted at all. So there's many other countries that could make a much better argument.

Αt the same logic Japan had winter Olympics in 1998 so spain is greater favorite if you equalize winter with summer olympics.

So what? No matter what cities get picked, there will be something we will point to that says this country/region/continent is over/under represented. Why not Canada. People like them.

All of this speculation and reccomendations that Toronto should sit out is stupid. They can't win if they don't try. If they lose, so be it. A city has the right to bid, and if there chances of winning are affected by hosting trends, whatever. Who cares.
