mr.x
Never heard of a Closing Ceremony...why? THESE GAMES WILL NOT END.
blueview
hahaha, im sure all host cities never wanted their Games to end. This is probably the first time that the Winters is broadcasted in the Philippines thanks to Solar Sports. Am loving watching the events in Whistler. Ikarus360
I understand your excitement Mr.X no one would want such a wonderful event to end. Anyway, not much details are known and wonder how are they going to do it with that huge flame on the middle. The only details known are about the russian performers for the Sochi 2014 handover (check the 2014 WOG forums for more info)

Ikarus360
Um i was also wondering, where and how are they going to raise the russian flag, if there are only two flagpoles (btw i hope they fix the air system of them because they failed on the OC)
NY20??
I don't think they can do anythng about the fake breeze for the flag. It was just an unlucky fluke at the OC that the flag got tangled.

LuigiVercotti
Or he could sub for the malfunctioning 4th spoke of the cauldron!! What...and have David Atkins try and help him get it to rise...now that'd be something for the NBC censors to edit out.

baron-pierreIV
Those totem poles did look suspiciously phallic... Why do you think they throw in all those so-called 'older' (Greek, First Nations) societies' leitmotif icons? So they could get back to basic and pre-Victorian imagery!! So they could get back to basic and pre-Victorian imagery!! Hence the Eleusian Mysteries have been brought back to life thanks to the Olympics.... Which all goes to prove that the games are in fact a subtle attempt by sex-crazed pagans to seduce 'the youth of the world' into villages every 2 years for intermingling and the creation of a new super race

SkiFreak
I'm wondering, will there be another cauldron lighting inside since the internal cauldron can't stay on all the time? Maybe Catriona will get her chance this time to light her segment. Or will they just work with the outdoor cauldron and extinguish that one? baron-pierreIV
I think they may FINALLY add a skating rink for the Closing because, except for Salt Lake and Torino, it has always been a Winter Closing tradition, and especially this is back to an indoor venue, to feature the figure skating gold medallists--unless they already have a separate skating exhibition event by itself at the Pacific Arena, Dome, etc., Edited February 16, 2010 by baron-pierreIV

Ozkar
i think for the closing there will be just a lot of singing.... more like a rock concert.... similar to Sydney 200 CC... looking forward for soshi 2014 handover..
Olympian2004
They will most probably stick to the stage from the opening ceremony -- remember, they spent a lot less on the ceremonies than Beijing did. And I think the opening ceremony stage looked just fine. I was stunned by that snow effect on the ground. It looked actually pretty natural. Regarding the pressurised air in the flagpoles: Either they didn't choose maximum power or those vents in the flagpoles really are not the strongest. See for yourself (at 2:22 and 3:59): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5I3Mw2OYcEw The vents seem to have difficulties to keep the flag really flying -- even without the flag being entangled in a rope. walei
Woo it looks like there will be ice skating at the closing ceremony, because reportedly 2006 Torino Ice Dance Champions from Russia will be part of the Sochi handover. If they are not performing ice dance in the handover, what can they be doing?
