Stu
Wimbledon is the only one of the Grand Slams not to offer equal prize money to the men's and women's champions after the Roland Garros changed its policy for this year. French Open organisers have decided to offer equal prize money to the champions, however, other women players there will get less than their male counterparts, prompting criticism from the WTA Tour. Personally I'm all for equal pay for equal work for the sexes, although, male tennis players will often play five-sets matches in a Grand Slam while women will often play as few as two during their matches. Perhaps women should play a maximum of five set too or maybe the it's reasonable that there is a prize disparity?
Quintana
I agree with equal work equal pay. However, there is no equal work here. Like you said, men have to win 3 sets instead of 2 at the Grand Slams. Therefore, I believe that Wimbledon's policy is justified.
TheOtherRob
I disagree. The women put in the same amount of training and unseen work for these tournaments as the men do and should be paid equally.
micheal_warren
i think women should be paid the same as men!
arwebb
How much work the players have to put in on the match court is the issue, not training or anything else. Until the women play best of five set matches, there is no way Wimbledon should even consider changing their policy. It's hardly as if any of them would have the guts to make it a real issue and boycott the place now, is it?
