It´s time that Munich will announce it´s interest in a bid for Winter Games 2018. Besides Munich Grenoble will be a strong candidate as the favorite for 2014 is PyoengChang.

Jeez you're an impatient fellow! It's only a few months since the 2014 bidders had to announce their interest, and you already want Munich to start its bid race for 2018! Far, far too early. Munich already indicated it's musing winter bids last year, but it's far too early for it to declare its hand for 2018. For a start, it will depend a lot on who wins 2018 _ if Salzburg does it (and it has a good chance), then there's no way Munich would get it. Then there's the question of whether the German NOC wants to go for a summer games instead (they won't wait till 2036 just because you'd like it that way). If they do go for the summer games, they probably won't want Munich to try for the winters. It'll be 2-3 years before it's time foir the 2018 winter candidates to start lining up. In the meantime, it's all silent, behind the scenes work putting together preliminary plans so they are ready if they DO decide to bid.

Right, Salzburg is a candidate for 2014. But I think their chances are really small after Torino 2006 and Vancouver 2010. So PC or another Asian candidate would be favorite. So Munich would have a realistic chance for 2018. See my comments on "Time is passing by" regarding Munich´s bid. I´m not impatient. The decision for 2014 is in July 2007 (next year), for 2018 in July 2009. It seems to be a lot of time but it is not. There is a lot to do and no time to waste.

Well, considering Munich was all set to go for 2014, then dropped out when the German NOC didn't support it for whatever reasons, I'd say pre-planning was already well advanced for a Munich winter bid whenever they decide to go. As I said, the 2014 race has only just begun. The main thing that will affect any potential Munich bid's chances is how 2014 ends.

Sidestep: The IOC session before the Torino Games would be a great chance to continue in reforming IOC (not only in personal sight). No programs, developments for future. To bring more fresh air, power and flexibility into the organisation. This would also be the same for FIFA and UEFA.

You sure you don't just want to pension off anyone with any experience?

The mayor of Grenoble wants to bid for 2018 but French minister for sport is not sure if France will bid next time. They first want to analize why they lost three times. My opinion is that they playing the same game as German OC which prefers to get Summer Games. Munich and Grenoble are perfect candidates for 2018. Berlin or Paris will have a lot more real strong competitors. So both "Winter cities" will have problems to get the support they need. Winter Games are definitely easier to get than Summer Games.

that´s why I am so eager for more information given by the bid cities, for more PR and public presence, brochures, meetings and so on. Everyone should now what´s going on. I´m interested in everything, talking to the people and get some experience during the years
