Fox334 93
Well, the first event went off in Richmond, the men's 5000m. To nobody's surprise, Sven Kramer won the Netherlands' 100th Olympic Gold medal, in an Olympic record time of 6:14.60. What was surprising was the rest of the podium: former short tracker Lee Seung-Hoon of South Korea won silver (Asian speed skaters are really only known in sprint distances) while Russia's Ivan Skobrev won the bronze, just edging Norway's Havard Bokko by under one second. micheal_warren 206
Brilliant win by Kramer. New Zealands Shane Dobbin was 17th. It was a disappointing result for the Kiwi.
fineshot2000 0
Kramer will be the star of these games. 3 Golds is a near certainty.
Fox334 93
Kramer will be the star of these games. 3 Golds is a near certainty. Wouldn't be so sure about the Team Pursuit, anything can happen there.

canuckfan 4
Disappointed for Clara! It's probably her best 3000m in years. It bodes really well for the 5000m
Fox334 93
Disappointed for Clara! I think getting a medal at all in the 3000m was a good sign. That race is not Clara's specialty, and it indicated that she's in form (not sure she will be able to beat Sablikova, tough).
Apple 10
Goddammit that oval is sexy. Love it. His next sport venue project is the Pan American stadium.

Fox334 93
It's all or nothing today for Jeremy Wotherspoon. Last chance to do something at the Olympics. Fixed. Seriously, tough, no mater what he does today he will still go down as one of the best Speed Skater of all time.

Fox334 93
What's fixed? Well, he is an 8 time world champion and an Olympic silver medalist. Saying that its his last time to do something is rather hash... Although it would be nice to see him win gold.
Faster 545
I would be happy with a medal.

fineshot2000 0
South Koreans are pinned to dominate and take the Gold in the Men's 500m. I think Wotherspoon (CAN), Shani Davis (USA) or Fredericks (USA) can claim a spot on the podium though, too, as well.
dave199 57
They're having problems in the Oval now. Such a long delay. The Zamboni created ruts in the ice. That seems to be the problem.
