Citizen-Seth Posted February 8, 2010 Report Posted February 8, 2010 I just found this on iTunes. Maybe if there's an official album then there will be an official DVD of the ceremonies, as well. So, that could be there are two versions of the ceremonies to buy: the (possible) VANOC version and the version NBC sells (assuming they'll sell it like they did in Beijing).
mr.x Posted February 8, 2010 Report Posted February 8, 2010 Great find! CTV will also have a multi-disc highlights album of all the competitions at the Games, including the full length feature version of the Opening and Closing Ceremonies. It'll be available in both DVD and Blue Ray.
Dinhu4ever Posted February 8, 2010 Report Posted February 8, 2010 I just wanna thanks the Brazilian iTunes Store for only selling iPhone/iPod Touch Apps! [/sarcasm] The box sounds very interesting. And since I couldn't convince my folks here to get HDTV to watch the Opening Ceremony, at least I'll have the blu ray version!

LuigiVercotti Posted February 14, 2010 Report Posted February 14, 2010 WTF? I just checked Itunes Store for Australia and the Sounds of Vancouver album has no k.d. lang singing 'Hallelujah'...what a joke!
micheal_warren Posted February 14, 2010 Report Posted February 14, 2010 I want to buy the Album but cant find it. Can you post a link. Thanks
LuigiVercotti Posted February 14, 2010 Report Posted February 14, 2010 I want to buy the Album but cant find it. Can you post a link. Thanks I just searched ITunes...if you have that installed you should be able to find by using 'Vancouver' as your search query
Citizen-Seth Posted February 14, 2010 Author Report Posted February 14, 2010 If you haven't gotten the album, I really recommend it. It includes all the quotes used by Don Sutherland and the slam poem...been listening to it all day!
SkiFreak Posted February 14, 2010 Report Posted February 14, 2010 It's on Amazon with the cover: http://www.amazon.ca/Sounds-Vancouver-2010-Opening-Ceremony/dp/B00356E700/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1266129500&sr=1-2 I'm gonna see if HMV or Future Shop has it tomorrow. Definitely want to pick it up. Does anyone know if it includes the First Nations segment, or more precisely, the chant music that was played during the athletes' entrance?

Kenadian Posted February 14, 2010 Report Posted February 14, 2010 I downloaded it. Disappointed that kd lang is missing, but just proves she did it live!
SkiFreak Posted February 14, 2010 Report Posted February 14, 2010 I downloaded it. Disappointed that kd lang is missing, but just proves she did it live! Hallelujah is on her album Hymns of the 49th Parallel in case you are looking for it. http://www.amazon.ca/Hymns-49th-Parallel-K-D-Lang/dp/B000267J10/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1266158431&sr=1-1 I've got this album. It's very good.
Ikarus360 Posted February 14, 2010 Report Posted February 14, 2010 Downloaded the album as well, pretty nice, but Hallelujah and that french song performed by Garou before the arrival of the torch are missing |:c . Anyway, i finally have the parade of nations awesome music
blueview Posted February 14, 2010 Report Posted February 14, 2010 Am really digging the Aboriginal Song, and Bang the Drum. For the aboriginal song, I think it deserved a more spectacular set-up because compared to the Indian nations' segment of SLC, this track is better.
Rafa Posted February 14, 2010 Report Posted February 14, 2010 spent the day listening to Joni Mitchell's "Both sides now"
Sir Rols Posted February 14, 2010 Report Posted February 14, 2010 (edited) spent the day listening to Joni Mitchell's "Both sides now" Yeah, I've had it on my mind too, Mo. For the first time since "Amigos Para Siempre", this is one song that is defining the games a lot to me personally. Edited February 14, 2010 by Sir Roltel
micheal_warren Posted February 14, 2010 Report Posted February 14, 2010 I am going to download it tonight. Looking forward to listening to it!
SkiFreak Posted February 15, 2010 Report Posted February 15, 2010 So if any of you are in Canada or BC or at the games in Vancouver, HMV has both albums and will have the closing ceremony album on March 1 too. Prices for the albums are: $12.99 - Sounds of Vancouver 2010: Opening Ceremony Commemorative Album $14.99 - Canada's Hockey Anthems: Sounds of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games I just picked up both albums. Both are in a cardboard cover. The Opening Ceremony album is good, except for that rendition of O Canada - sounds like a Christmas song.
micheal_warren Posted February 15, 2010 Report Posted February 15, 2010 Ijust downloaded the Album from I-tunes as well as K D Langs song. Looking froward to listening tonight!
SkiFreak Posted February 15, 2010 Report Posted February 15, 2010 I just took a look at the cardboard sleeve. It says the Garou song will be included on the Closing Ceremony album coming out March 1. Now if only they included Hallelujah on there it would be complete.
thatsnotmypuppy Posted February 15, 2010 Report Posted February 15, 2010 WTF? I just checked Itunes Store for Australia and the Sounds of Vancouver album has no k.d. lang singing 'Hallelujah'...what a joke! Just regarding this (can't be bothered checking the whole thread if someone else responded) - kd lang is distributed by Warner in Australia but is signed to an independent label as far as actual releases go - thus this package is not "allowed' a release with her on it due to licensing in our territory. Plus Warner are pushing her new greatest hits collection - with a new ad starting next week featuring... 'Hallelujah'!
walei Posted February 15, 2010 Report Posted February 15, 2010 OMG I LOVED THIS ALBUM Especially the music tracks: "Peaks of Endeavour", "Sacred Grove", "The Olympic Flame", "Fire on the Mountain" They are all excellent and inspiring! Definitely my favorite ceremony music ever.
Ikarus360 Posted February 15, 2010 Report Posted February 15, 2010 Ok just finished listening to everything. This has to be, with Sydney 2000 and Barcelona 92 my fave musical score for an opening ceremony ever truly breathaking ( The Olympic Flame, Peaks of Endeavour and Parade of Athletes are my fave trio on the whole album).
SkiFreak Posted February 16, 2010 Report Posted February 16, 2010 I was just listening to the CD again and realized there is an error. Two tracks are switched around and mis-labeled. The cover says Track 14 is Raising the Flag and Track 15 is We Are More (poem). After listening, I realized the two tracks are switched around: Track 14 is We are More and Track 15 is Raising the Flag. So, there's an error on the sleeve.
