lehari
I dont see 2020 as being the right time for another italian games. To soon after 2006. And to be blunt, from the point of view of an average joe canadian who does read news websites with the morning coffee.....do we really need to send our athletes to a country who has a leader like berlusconni? a man who uses his title as a pick up line. who blantanly humiliates his wife. who sends the leaders of the western world to an earthquake zone and has nothing at all prepared for them to talk about. im sorry, but this man has ruined the reputation of a once great country. he will hopefully be out of office by the time the 2020 city is named, it will be the one good thing rome will have going for it. Thanks for the welcoming to Canada, very nice...great!

WTF? The private life/moral character of a nation's leader has NOTHING whatsoever to do with the calibre of its Olympic bid. Apples and oranges...they don't equate!! MonctonFella
your right baron leaders dont reflect on the caliber of a cities bid. however in italy's case i think it does. berlusconi is a chauvinist, arrogant, self obsessed, womanizer who deffinately protrays the stereotype of an over sexed italian male. this guy belongs on jersey shore instead of leading a country. Victor Mata
^^ epic? why? One reason: Lots of Italian people and descendents in Brazil. If the games were in Southern Brazil it would be even more epic because of that Giuseppe Garibaldi guy and stuff. Oh, and Italian food isn't really considered foreign food here. Now back to topic. Athensfan
I'd love to see an Italian Summer Games -- especially in Rome, but I also question whether 2020 is the right time. Rio 2016 and Rome 2020 would be back-to-back Latin Games -- not an ideal scenario. Also, if Munich or Annecy wins 2018, Europe could be questionable for 2020. I'm not sure Europe should host every other Summer Games anyway (2004, 2012, 2020). That said, I think Rome would be a magnificent host and I would love to attend those Games... Sir Rols
I must admit, Roma is one that I really hope gets up for 2020. It's one of the few repeat hosts that really fires my imagination and anticipation at the notion. I'll have to wait and see who else stumps up for 2020, but at this stage it's my early personal prefrerence by far.
