I am just speaking the truth: currently in New Zealand we have:

          1.   housing crisis with houses selling 5 times there value

  • 2. A healthcare system on the brink of collapse with striking doctors, nurses, allied health
  • 3. Cost of living crisis with food at astronomical prices
  • 4. business closing and empty shops everywhere
  • 5. More and more protests
  • 6. massive rise in crime including shootings
  • 7. Record number of road deaths
  • 8. record numbers of drownings
  • 9 mental health crisis with one of the highest suicide rates in the OECD
  • 10. Archaic immigration policy

Can you specifically explain (in detail) how each of these issues you mention are unique to New Zealand, and in particular, how the current Government is fully responsible (which has only held a majority in Parliament for two years)?

All "Groundswell" speculation for now...BUT it is the first time since the failed Wellington '06 attempt that the NZ Govt has shown more than a passing interest. Considering the decade long lead in time needed to host what will be chosen as an "upsized" Games, If the NZ Govt moved on it now, 2034 could be secured.

NZ is having an incredible Games in Birmingham (NZ topped the cycling for example, is second on the swimming)...This often leads to speculation!

NZ could do lets say 2034 in its sleep (ie 12 years led in time)....not sure why it is so insecure in its abilities. And 2026 will show what can be done on a tight budget.

It seems like a country wide bid shouldn't be too hard or expensive for NZ to pull off. Has anyone done up a possible list of venues?

Not yet for Auckland's 2034 bid.

As nice as the idea of Jamaica hosting the Netball is they really do need to put the athletes at the centre of their planning and as much a couple of weeks in the Caribbean is tough for anyone to object too having them so remote from the rest of the games essentially removes the sport from being part of a multi sport event.

One of the very few complaints about the Birmingham games has been the athletes being split out over three different villages.

I guess the athletes will have to get used to it with future Commonwealth and Olympic games being across multiple host cities and regions such as 2026 and 2032!

Different countries is entirely unnecessary.

For Hamilton 100 to propose hosting events in Gibraltar and Jamaica tells me that they might not have the right people at the helm at this stage of the planning. Keep it focused on Southern Ontario.

They better get used to it because even Brisbane 2032 will have multiple villages.

Perhaps even suggests they don't have the facilities for it.

I'm guessing shooting may be due to local gun laws making staging it too much of a hassle.  That was essentially the reason it wasn't in Birmingham, though they could have staged it down in Surrey it they really wanted too.

Netball shouldn’t be hard finding facilities. All you need is an indoor stadium.

Exactly. Surely one of the plethora of universities in the Hamilton/Toronto region could do it.

Not only that but Gibraltar just seems... like a choice given its history with Spain and the Commonwealth. It has nothing at all to do with Canada.

For sure. Its embarrassing even suggesting small minnow countries help host the games. What a joke of leadership.

Just catching up here. The double-awarding of the 2030 and 2034 Commonwealth Games was already posted by @Victorian back in early August

Sorry I missed that.

Still interesting though because it means they've got at least two candidates. Assuming that one is Hamilton and they've got 2030...where's the other one? NZ? South Africa trying again? Is there maybe more than one, for a real bid process?
