Scotguy Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 Hapy New Years everyone To start of 2010, and due to being busier than expected, i have decided to start a small competition. Everyone can take part in this as it involves very little time, and is a good wee starter, for the coming bigger competitions throughout the year. The rules of this competition are as follows: The 2012 Olympic Games in London are needing an official theme song * Pick a song, that you think would be suitable for these games. * Either post a link to youtube, own video or music file * Briefly state why you have picked the song and its significance to London 2012 * There is a maximum of two songs per member for submission * Songs can be in any language, but you have to justify the use of that language Submissions start today, and the submission deadline will be Wednesday 20th January 2010 I will shortlist the entries, with the successful songs going to a vote off, which will first take place in Groups and then solo (more will be explained at the time) As i said this one shouldnt take up alot of time So comon guys lets start the 2010 gamesbids competition season
Scotguy Posted January 11, 2010 Author Report Posted January 11, 2010 My entry is: The Spice Girls, Featuring Lady Gaga I have picked this as it is upbeat, good to dance too, and will get everybody up and moving during the games. The Spice Girls are representing Britain and London as the host city, Lady Gaga is representing the international representatives from around the world. Mainly the song is to feel good, enjoy yourself and have a laugh. I think it reflects a modern games, a modern London and will get all of the athletes dancing and having an amazing time. Plus imagine at the Opening Ceremony, would have everyone jumping
Citius Altius Fortius Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 my entry - it is very british, it is fast, it is exciting and it has style: and I think it fits fantastic with the modern logo of London 2012 I can imagine how the logo is changing its colours according the music or the animated pictograms would be wonderful in combination with my entry!
DannyelBrazil Posted January 13, 2010 Report Posted January 13, 2010 My entry is Chumbawamba - Tubthumping I love that song and I like the rhythm. I think the upbeat tempo fits the sports action and the refrain is just full of energy. In stadiums it would be a success (if the English are not using it already) specially during intervals between quarters in Basketball and sets of Beach Volleyball. I know, the song is little bit too old and was used in the official soundtrack for France 1998 World Cup, but for me, is one of the best English songs ever.
Sir Rols Posted January 13, 2010 Report Posted January 13, 2010 Okay, Sydney's two submissions: The Clash - London Calling

stir.ts Posted January 13, 2010 Report Posted January 13, 2010 We can be.......... HEROES Nothing touches London or Bowie.
NY20?? Posted January 14, 2010 Report Posted January 14, 2010 LOCOG has decided to run with the "the 2012 logo is straight out of 1987" critiscm by choosing " as the official song of the London 2012 Summer Olympic Games. In a statement, Lord Coe explained, "True Faith fits with London 2012. Londoners will certaintly feel 'so extrodinary' once 2012 comes around, but then they'll think that the Games took their 'time and money.' Furthermore, the video for our official song is just as outrageously bizzare and engaging as our offical logo. The choice was obvious."
