IceNarcissus Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 Hey guys! Sorry I haven't posted in a while, especially being so close to our big moment. I'm just swamped with work of all kinds, ESPECIALLY with work on the 2010 ceremonies crew. I'm way too paranoid of losing my amazing job and the potential shaming to give out secrets or even to give hints, but I will be working on a bit of a small narrative to share with you guys AFTER the ceremonies about what was going on in the leading up to of the ceremonies from conception to construction to rehearsals and the final product, and I'll even try to entertain some questions as much as I can. I'm more of a go-for lackey and not one of the main coordinators but I do work with the production team myself once in rare while so I should provide at least some insight. I'll also try to provide some in-depth explanation should any of you get overly cranky with parts of the ceremony, and since there hasn't been a games without anybody from GB waxing moronically about some segment that got their undies in a bunch I'll anticipate it to be on the safe side. But I'm hoping that everybody is going to like everything! A couple of you have already IM'd me fishing for secrets and such, but I'm not giving into anything! I will neither confirm nor deny your ceremonial allegations! I AM ZE SECRET AGENT! And shame on you for even asking. Your mother would be ashamed! Although at a pep talk given by David Atkins himself last year he said "and more importantly above never talking to the media, you must NEVER tell ANYTHING to your MUM! MUMS ARE THE WORST!" which is actually very sound advice! Oh, and the official photographers will be posting some galleries of the ceremonies workforce in action when the ceremonies are done. I'll link to them from here I hope everybody has good countdown month!

Here today, gone tomorrow...but the thrill of throwing a monkey wrench just a little before the show happens ONLY ONCE!! Edited January 11, 2010 by baron-pierreIV
jawnbc Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 Very nice of you to offer...but re-read your confidentiality agreement. The standard Vanoc one requires your silence until at least December 2010--many until December 2011.

thatsnotmypuppy Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 RobH - you have just set a very high standard when it comes to quote of the year around here :)
jawnbc Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 Massive lights to recreate a marijuana grow-op. A giant scowly face glowering down from the ceiling. Gordon Campbell's mugshot reading the Olympic Oath for officials.

The standard Vanoc one requires your silence until at least December 2010--many until December 2011. Just where does it say that? And for who? Even the production team is antsy for the post-games wrap up and workforce celebrations. We've even been repeatedly encouraged to share our stories when the games are done and the ceremonies are complete.
jawnbc Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 I'm not gonna repost the test--confidentiality--but mine says 31 December 2011. Just re-checked. Just where does it say that? Lord David Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 Get them SBS guys in there, yep Seoul Broadcasting System. If they can leak out rehearsal footage from Beijing 2008, then it shouldn't be too much of a problem for Vancouver 2010. Think of it as revenge for losing PeyongChang 2010!
IceNarcissus Posted January 12, 2010 Author Report Posted January 12, 2010 I'm not gonna repost the test--confidentiality--but mine says 31 December 2011. Just re-checked. That sounds very peculiar to me. How would VANOC prevent thousands of people from talking about what they did after the ceremonies were finished for two whole years after the fact? The standard document given to people interested in a position with the ceremonies clearly states "Do not discuss... (details on what you do, who people are, talking to outside people and all forms of communication possible here) ...until after the Games." During a discussion with my supervisor they even told me that their family was going to record the ceremonies and wait until they went to visit the day after and all watch together while they provided colour commentary about behind the scenes. I think your agreement is about something else, perhaps. Maybe you're on a high security working team? I don't know.
IceNarcissus Posted January 12, 2010 Author Report Posted January 12, 2010 Jawn, you did raise a good point, albeit unintentionally on your part, it just got me thinking. I should postpone my volunteer post until after the CLOSING ceremonies because I don't want to get into the pitfalls of describing what we will have seen on February 12th and then unintentionally comparing/contrasting differences/similarities to to the closing ceremonies. New date people, the end of February 28th and March 1st!
baron-pierreIV Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 DON'T BUY his book!! Buy mine!! It's better!!
IceNarcissus Posted January 12, 2010 Author Report Posted January 12, 2010 DON'T BUY his book!! Buy mine!! It's better!! Don't worry baron, I'm not making a book! You can have all of the bookery to yourself. I'm just somebody who's going to give some quaint insight between friends once everything is done, I'm not out to ruin the day or profit

IceNarcissus Posted January 12, 2010 Author Report Posted January 12, 2010 Ice, am being facetious. Was just razzing ya!! I know, but I'm trying to constantly remind about my not talking about anything until the big shows are done for all of GB to see. Just for protection sake.
