wth???? Why are the Whistler talents so much better than the much larger BC Place venue in Vancouver? It should be the other way around.

BC Place: 35,000 seats in medal ceremonies mode

Whistler Celebration Plaza: 8,000

Interesting, I wonder why the major acts are at Whistler and not in Vancouver? Pierre Lapointe is an interesting choice, given his lyrics.

Really wish stars was performing in Vancouver on the 20th and not at Whistler, I would love to see them.

They will be more worldwide famous names at BC place !

You obviously haven't seen VANOC's lame never-heard-of list of acts for BC Place:

Feb 14 Nelly Furtado British Columbia

Feb 15 to be confirmed Québec

Feb 16 Barenaked Ladies Nova Scotia

Feb 17 Paul Brandt Alberta

Feb 18 Hedley Prince Edward Island

Feb 19 Theory of a Deadman Northwest Territories

Feb 20 Stereophonics Yukon

Feb 21 Trooper and Loverboy Nunavut

Feb 23 Billy Talent Saskatchewan

Feb 24 INXS Ontario

Feb 25 Burton Cummings Manitoba

Feb 26 Great Big Sea Newfoundland and Labrador

There's two or three I might consider watching, but the rest? Does VANOC really expect to fill 35,000 seats with these people?

Anyhow, venue layout for Whistler Medals Plaza (8,000) - it also shows the location of the Whistler Olympic Cauldron:

Sorry, I've seen it and I know more than one name in that list : Nelly Furtado, Barenaked Ladies, Stereophonics and INXS ! And i'm sure that we will have a well know french speaking signer for the Quebec night. If not, we would already have the name....

^ fortunately, I won't have to endure the worst of those acts as I only have Nelly (love her) and Billy Talent (from the 90s, but acceptable). The Barenaked Ladies...maybe. But everyone else on that list in a 35,000 seat venue?

The Whistler list is the one that'll sell tickets, someone has the two lists switched.

Billy Talent is not from the 90's, they didn't realase their first wide release album till 2003. There were formed in the 90's but definitely not a 90's band.

Well I guess what I should have said memorabilia is that Whistler has more artist I enjoy. I love Feist, Our Lady Peace was the first CD I ever bought, All American Rejects is a fun band to watch, though musically kinda bad. I love Stars, their music is so textural and beautiful, a very lush full sound. Though I have to say I am really surprised they would associate themselves with the Olympics being members of Broken Social Scene. I like The Fray and Hedley (kinda) though musically they are kinda crappy. Compared to Vancouver where I love Nelly Furtado, like Stereophonics, Billy Talent and Hedley but the rest is well the rest.

Did somebody know at what time start the ceremony ? and what time finish ?

The 17th and the 20th I got the Luge and Bobsleigh events finishing at 19h30.

In theory I'm supposed to return back in Vancouver by OBN (last bus at 21h30)

But maybe I can be tempted to stay a little bit more to watch the show.

Billy Talent : Best New Group of the Year 2004

(This Band was formerly pezz active from 1993)

Best new group of the year 2004 . This band won many recongnizion trought canada in the last 5 years. But you can not like them... it's not my favorite band either.... but there music can sink in any soul like How it goes.

But I AGREE 100% with you..... the music in whistler is so far far better than the one at BC place... making me wonder if Vanoc is planning some surprises or something....

Is it normal that I have heard of more of the bands that play in Vancouver? I only know one of the acts that play in Whistler, vs 4 in Vancouver...

Same timing than in Vancouver.

18:30 : Provincial celebration

19:00 : Medal presentation

19:30 : Live concert

The 2 first parts are livecast simultaneously in both venues so in a same show.

And finaly each venue will have its own concert.
