Italy is the sentimental favourite, but France swapped support with Germany over the 2011 Women's World Cup so they are the strong favourites. It will be 20 years since the tournament has been held in one of the big 5 countries, so it will be between France and Italy. Pillan
Sadly, Norway/Sweden have withdrew. The goverments didn't accept the bid.
Olympian2004
I think France will get it. Besides the vote swap arrangement with Germany, France is Michel Platini's home country. I suppose that the UEFA president shall not engage himself in the host election campaign but I think that the Eastern European delegates will want to do Platini a favour -- after he and the rest of the UEFA executives finally gave the green light for Ukraine as 2012 host. arwebb
I think France has to be a very strong favourite. Turkey is an interesting candidate, but has a lot of work to do for me.
Scotguy
Italy is going through some bad football times just now what with the match rigging and the violence at games. Turkey although n interesting bid, is too many things needed to be done in order to host. So think France would be the best bet for this one, and if the teams are increased in numbers then Uefa would want a reliable host to try out its new procedures. From 2016 onwards there will be 24 teams playing in the European Championships. All 53 members of UEFA approved the change.
gotosy
from wikipedia: The format of the final tournament will consist of six groups of four teams, followed by a round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final. The top two from each group would qualify in addition to the four best third-ranked sides, the same system as was applied in the World Cups from 1986 to 1994. This format would generate a total of 51 games, compared with 31 now,
