Hey guys

Due to many members competing in the Logo competition and my friend CAF withdrawing, i have decided to cancel the new sport competition. I apologise to those members who wanted to take part or had done any work for this.

However, after the logo competition is completed, i aim to organise the next comp and i am suggesting 3 types of competition. I will put these to a poll for you guys to decide. You can also state any of your own ideas, which i will consider. Here are the three choices.

Competition 1 - New Sport

Having changed their minds again the International Olympic Committee have decided to add one more sport to the Olympic programme in time for 2016. Pick your sport and submit a 2 page brochure, stating why this sport should be included.

Competition 2 - New Stadium

The city of Paris have again decided to bid for the Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2020. The centre piece of their bid is to be a brand new stadium. They want you to design them a showpiece for their games.

Competition 3 - Europe Games

With the success of the Pan Am Games and the Asian and African Games, the sports representatives of Europe have decided to hold a Europe Games. These first games will be held in 2017. Pick your candidtate city, and submit either a bid book or website with your citys bid

The comp with the most votes, will be organised by me, when the logo comp has been completed and finished

I would appreciate if as many members as possible would vote

Cheers Guys

I had the hounour to being the first one to vote. I voted for " Europe Games " Actually I want to call it " The European Games ", shorted like " EG ". Actually about 2-3 months ago I began to a sort of bidbook the be candidate with Istanbul 2017 for the European Games.

I can hear you saying .. everywhere in every poll, at every thread, I'm sick of the name Istanbul. Me too :(<_< . Afterwards I thought by myself that Rio and Beijing and so other cities like Toronto now have won the organisation for the 2015 Pan Am Games, as Rio did in 2007. As Beijing Organised the Summer Universiad in 2001 and so on ..

Now we know that Turkey as a whole country is now in a wave of organisation from 2010 till 2013 and so on, must give Turkey the needed experience in organising large events. But the last time I visited GB a few years ago (2005 I think) a member stated that Istanbul had to orgnise something little to experience the huge organisation scale and so on. He or she came up with the idea to organise a Universiad or a Meditteranean Games as those two were not preferable options nor for me nor for the Department for youth and sport in Turkey. Hence therefore Istanbul had to organise something bigger in scale so that the needed experience in organising can be achieved: eg, venue constructions, to experience the massieve human circulations at the road and metro network that's beeing bild rapidly, (namely infrastructure), .. etc ..

After many years I concluded that Istanbul can manage it to organise the EVER FIRST " European Games " so that all the experience achievment can me in advance for an eventueally Olympic Games. Istanbul is a City with huge, tremendous an unthinkable challanges. Because of the fact that this is a metropole city that is surrounded at 3-4 sides by the water. Besides that it is a bicontinental city that has the negative luck of being litteraly chained by sea and that the transport from the one side to the other side has to be organised perfectly that it is now today.

Therefore I produced for a (even wich it is) Fantasy Sports Games File. It totally fits in this frame. In the meanwhile other European Citis who don't have the possibility to organise or even being candidate for an Olympic Games, can have this possibility to host large events that are just enough for the European Continent. Those events can boost countries candidate cities for an eventually OG.

REMARK : But after the " Look and Logo competition ", I rather want a " New Sports Brochure " competition to tease the things up, for a larger competition like the European Games as mentioned in the poll. This could give us more fun and pleasure as an EG would take more time for research and File'ing. My intention would be that this European Games should been by ' Scot and TNMP ' to have a balance in organisers respectively from the northern and southern hemisphere.

But let us go further with the " New sports competition " and afterwards with a decent EVER FIRST EUROPEAN GAMES " where we can arrange the dates and set up a decent rulements / evaluation-quoting system so there is a wide-concensus between gamesbids members.

You can't just willy nilly organize comps.

Follow protocol. Consult with TNMP.

cant i?

Its up to the Gamesbids members if they want to take part. TNMP does a fantastic job, im sure he will not object, but i do not need to consult him, he does not run this forum or has to be consulted if someone decides to start a comp

I am happy (whenever - seriously) to let someone else run a competition - but in this thread and your "new sport" thread you have made a big un-necesary point that you must run the next competition.

Whats the big deal?

Ive just wanted to organise one for a long time now, have some ideas and would like the chance to see if i could organise a successful competition.

Im not trying to say that it must be me and can only be me, i just wanted to state my intention that i would like to do the next one.

Nowhere have i said that i MUST do the next comp, i have said that i aim and would like the opportunity, to do the next one. Where did you see that i had stated that i MUST do the next comp?

Surely anyone on the site can start up a competition, do you have to ask permission?

I admit that the new sports one, i should have waited until the logo one was done, but i have done that

Again TNMP, your comps are always really good, so it is nothing againt you or how you run the comps

I am not happy. The elders, TNMP, Baron, Roltel should be deciding these things.

Why?

I pay my premium members status each year, why cant i do a comp or state intentions to do so.

I think Scot can organize a comp, but talk to the elders here to avoid to put two comps at the same time, since, for example, the logo comp quality is getting too high, and people are spending days making their proposal.

It's good to make a schedule of comps.

And BTW, a European Games comps is not interesting to me. I'll be watching this one.

Thanks for your support Danny

Although, i dont get this talk to the elders thing. I have paid to contribute to this site for the last 3 years

So i have to ask people permission to do things, even though i pay the same as them, but they have been on the site for longer?

I am a proud man, and will not be asking permission from anyone

Scot and Mo, Guys

That's not the language it's has to be. We all know it.

First - we have to understand that Scot has the intention to organise a comp. He has a very high adrenaline for that, that's why he is su quick with ideas and so on. But Scot you have to be patient. It isn't all about the premium membership nor that nobody wants you to organise something. Even I can organise something.

Mo, you have written your arrogance down, but please let's understand scot.

What we need is a thread about " Guidelines to organise a succesfull competition " This can be set up by tnmp, baron, roltel and so on, the ones who have the know-how for it. Why don't we share this know-how in a common way. So everybody can build-up this experience to organise it succesfull. Let's help each other on this forum, because we have something special, as Caf mentioned before: " We share the passion for Olympics in General ".

Thus we can reach a point together and we HAVE TO BE on the same frequency about those comp.

What I want to ask is that we are missing a thread : " Fantasy Bids Competition Envantary "

Maybe also a thread about " Possible List of competitions for in the future " , so that we can hava a look for what sort of comp we can be candidate of.

This can result in better understanding and intern communication and a lot can be solved out before using bad language.

I love you all,

Hope we love each other as members too. ;)

Best regards

fatih civelek

note: for guidelines e.g:

- setting dates

- thinking about the interval between dates

- clear criteria about the contents of the comp

- clear criteria about voting procedure and dates of that

- using of poll --> that will count for how much % percentage

- etc ..

If somebody wants to organise than he/she has to write all his/her criteria bid on the guidlines thread so the experienced one confirm what the best next comp would be.

This is my proposal, and hope it is fair enough to reach a better level of organising and quality of communication.

I think the stadium proposal would be difficult, even for those of us with fairly decent design software, but it would be fun. Although I suppose people could draw their designs and scan them in.

The new sport could be good, a bit different to what we've seen before, and shouldn't take a huge amount of effort to prepare and enter.

And the Euro Games is a bit more of a traditional competition, the sort we've had before.

Not sure which I prefer, I'll have a think.

BTW, I'm fairly certain Mo was speaking tongue firmly in cheek about consulting the "elders". Not sure Danny got the joke when he echoed the sentiments though! ^_^

Of course you don't have to ask permission to start a competition - very few of us have the time to take part in these things let alone organise them, so it's good that you're willing to do it. You're right, you should wait till the logo one's finished though!

BTW< when will we know the winners on the logo comp???

I've asked it sometimes and got no answer 'til now.

At the moment the new stadium competition is in the lead, although i realise this could be a difficult one.

Keep voting guys, and if you have any ideas, feel free to share

I suggest that a start with the new-sport comp would be a good tease to go further with a greater one. 2 pages of pdf will be easy to produce too .. afterwards as we are going into the festivity month the other two suggested comp would take more time to produce. At least we can have befor new year a little comp extra for 2009.

And for 2010 we can begin with a larger one ..

Thanx guys
