olymprefer
I really would appreciate Santiago as hosting City of a Pan AM Games editio. And it is more likely after a NA edition in Toronto. A kind of rotation has been informally stablished. Thenthat will be SA time again, since Mexico is culturally a Central America country, IMO. 2003 - Santo Domingo 2007 - Rio de Janeiro 2011 - Guadalajara 2015 - Toronto 2019 - Santiago You are wrong there is no such "rotation" Mexico is not considered in Central America read this "Countries that were part of the Commonwealth of Nations such as Canada did not compete at the first Pan American Games.[5] The second edition of Pan American Games, were the first to be held in the North America as they were held in Mexico City, Mexico", in 1979 games were held in Puerto Rico and next games in 1975 weres held in Mexico City... KRATK
It seems it's on: Santiago is bidding for the 2019 PanAm. The president of the COCh is lobbying in Guadalajara and taking note about the organization. http://diario.latercera.com/2011/10/15/01/contenido/deportes/4-87078-9-ilic-negocia-los-panamericanos-de-2019-para-chile.shtml http://diario.latercera.com/2011/10/16/01/contenido/deportes/4-87206-9-los-millones-que-necesita-chile--para-ser-sede-panamericana.shtml

intoronto
About time Santiago get their act together and land its PanAms. This is shaping up to be a Santiago vs Lima race. I would give the edge to Lima, because they did bid for 2015.
Victor Mata
Well, Santiago actually was chosen twice to host the games - in '75 and '87 - and for a number of reasons it didn't happen. They can pull a 'third time is the charm' card and build a bid upon their upcoming 2014 South American Games infrastructure. It's theirs to lose. Victor Mata
For '87 it was theirs and they declined, then backup Quito declined also and PASO opened the process again. Indianápolis and Havana submitted and were chosen for the next 2 PanAms.
KRATK
1975 was two years after the coup d'etat. 1987 was two years after a big earthquake.

rafabelem
I got a doubt. Is there kind of rotation system to elect the Panamerican Games host cities? So, if it exists, don't you think 2019 games should be held at Central America? I look back at the last chosen cities and I see this scheme: 2003 - Santo Domingo - Central America 2007 - Rio de Janeiro - South America 2011 - Guadalajara - North America 2015 - Toronto - North America 2019 - ______ - Central America/Caribbean 2022 - ______ - South America
KRATK
It's not an official rotation policy. San Antonio (USA) bidded for 2007 and Lima and Bogotá bidded for 2015.

intoronto
Bogota? According to this article, "The current President of the Pan American Sports Organization said it is very likely that after Toronto in Canada, follow Bogotá, Colombia, to host the Pan American Games 2019." And the decision will be made in 2013.
KRATK
Here is a 2010 video I found with the venues of the 2014 ODESUR Games. Some of the venues are being renovated already, one example is the Court Central (here is how it looks now). http://www.3tv.cl/index.php?m=video&v=16329 The venues of the 2014 ODESUR Games will probably be the base of the Santiago bid.
